I installed my Wagner FMIC last week, it was my first IC install and it went really well. I did have one question during the install, called Nick and he answered my question immediately....great support! Being my first time, it took me an hour and a half doing the job alone, as usual it'll only take 45 minutes next time...

I did have to trim one very small piece of plastic for the unit to fit perfect. Up in the passenger side of the radiator there is a piece of plastic that runs on an angle...I trimmed it square (took all of 30 seconds with a small hack saw) and I was all set.

The quality is excellent, the packaging for shipping also excellent.

I swapped to N55 mids at the same time. When I took it out for a test run, I could definitely feel a big difference in the way it pulled from 3000-6000... It was much harder and linear, not like it was choking for air like before the install.

Thanks Nick, this product gets a

Did you do the install on car ramps or did you use a lift, and what would you recomend?

My new intercooler has been sitting on my kitchen table as a center piece, I finally did some data logs of the stock setup last weekend and might do the install this weekend.

I used ramps and it was fine. I also used my cordless drill to remove all bolts for the under tray....that saved a lot of time.

Watch the IC install video from HPF, it gives good tips.

Get that thing installed soon!!!!!!!

Ok, pulled my car up on low 6" ramps in the drive, it took a little over an hour to do the install after watching the HPF video on YouTube.

The test drive afterward was longer than the install.

Inlet temps are much lower than stock, during most pulls I'm seeing the inlet air temp drop rather than the rise I saw with stock.

I logged data to compare to stock and I will after a few brews.

Stock IC to Wagner FMIC

Here are some data logs from my 135i with Dinan S2 software, no other mods, Boost is about 12.5 to 13. psi.

The comparrison is not as good as I would have wished because of the difference in ambient temps dut the data is very interesting. The Stock runs were done with the ambient temperature about 83F, the Wagner at about 95F. The data for both runs was after more than 50 miles of continuous driving.

Looking at the logs:
1. Stock IAT (Inlet Air Temp) was closser to AAT (Ambient Air Temp) before the pull.
2. The stock IC heated up durring the pull, whereas the Wagner actually dropped the temperature when the pull started.
3. The boost measured about .5 or more higher with the Wagner FMIC.

First chart has gold curve miss labeled as IAT should be AAT.

Wagner FMIC

Here is one more pull, hardly any temp increase compared to stock, I'm impressed for the money, Boost is smoother.

Great real world data. Did you log this data at the track or after some spirited driving? I only ask since I'm seeing pre-pull IAT of about 110 (in 92 degree weather) when driving around town, and 104 or less on the highway. In both instances the IAT drops as the turbos spool. I haven't had a chance to push it for an extended period of time to see if/when it will heat soak. Also, can you let us know what tune you are running? Thanks.

All data was recorded in simular conditions other than ambient temp on the same roads after 50 plus mile of continuous driving. The intake temp was allowed to stabilize for a period of minutes before any run.

The stock intercooler started out with less difference to ambient but really shows heat soak.

The Wagner started out with more differential to the ambient but then cooled on every run when the airflow was increased due to speed changes and never showed much heat soak.
It's possible the overlapping design of the Wagner IC with the radiator couples heat into the intercooler, I will try and create a space between the two and see if that lowers the steady state differential intake temp.

Tune is a Dinan stage 2 on a N55 motor.

I can try to get you some, but it's all black so not much to see. It's pretty stealthy especially if you have that lower grille in there. I love mine though....quality is top notch.

Your not going to get much out of a pic from us with Wagner since it just sits back and is black.
