I witnessed the M3 GTRs race at Petit Le Mans @ Road Atlanta in the fall of 2001. Glad I got video of them because after that season Porsche cried little a big bunch of babies and had the rules changed to where the M3 GTR was no longer illegible to race in the ALMS.

Why is it that we never see Mercedes cars race? I am fairly certain that at one time there was a horrific accident involving Mercedes that was responsible for numerous deaths at Le Mans. Does this have something to do with it?

Mercedes-Benz races in the DTM (Eurpoe) along with F1. There was a race several years ago were an DTM CLK went airborne and did a flip or two in mid-air.

According to a Road & Track article that I have re: the ALMS M3 GTR, there were only 10 street worthy GTRs produced. At the time they sold for $250,000 Euro. |

I'm not much of a BMW historian, but is that the same car that's in this video? Well, not the exact car, but a V8 M3 GTR. All it says is it's an M3 GTR. Either way, I love watching this movie. Can watch it over and over. I always try and see if I can actually see him using the clutch. It looks like he's rev matching every shift.

A M3 E46 GTR first came with a inline 6, later it was the 4.0 V8.
The other vid is Hans Stuck on my favourite track. Benz competes in DTM(as already stated here) with some pretty fast stuff! 2005 season works car, Jean Alesi: |
