Chronumn's 135i Build
Hi all,
I wanted to start documenting my cars build for myself and the forums to see. This car is my daily driver which has taken over for my 09 miata which is now on track only duty. I purchased this car locally for a great price in my opinion, it needed tires badly, brakes badly, and in serious need of a bath. This car was dirty, exterior and interior alike. The paint was stained with what looked like pollen of some sort. The color of the seats were very muted and the controls, steering wheel, shift knob, and e-brake were coated in a muck. Likely the case was the PO used lotion of some sorts and it rubbed off and baked onto the pieces. I was able to clean most of the car and replaced what needed to be replaced. *I'll be updating this post with some DSLR pictures and videos* First fill up pictures, nothing had been touched at this point, not even tints. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Next up was deep cleaning time Here you can see the pollen in the paint and after on the right one swipe across the dash Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr These pictures give a good example of what a magic eraser + leather cleaner can do for dirty seats. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr After cleaning the steering wheel it was obvious it was a little beat and will be replaced with an M3 wheel in the future. I picked up some Performance goodies to replace some worn parts. New sidemarker to replace the faded one and led bulbs look nicer in my opinion Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Performance grills installed. I chose oem because I like the glossy outer rim + matte inner gills. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Time to address the headlights. This took a while. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr New brakes that were desperately needed. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr ...aaaand tires, went with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 racetrack oval brickyard bridgestone re0003 rebranded track performance wet dry summer great tires. They are great for daily driving with plenty of grip and I got the right sizing to fit the wheels perfectly. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Had a friend stop by Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Picked up some LUX v5? The color changing ones. Before and After Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Berk catless downpipe from a forum member, and new tranny fluid went in, no pictures sorry, I was excited. Picked up some pucks as well. The plugs are for a later date, had to order a plug socket for my ratchet. I'll update with videos shorty Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr My dad came to town to visit which resulted in me taking the 135i (my daily) to the place where it was not supposed to go, the track. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr The 135i performed great. I drove both cars that day and took video so I will post them shorty. Obviously the 135i can't hold a candle to my very well set up miata, but with some work it would obviously be a great car for the track, the brakes and tires on the car worked great. I didn't even have a chance to change the brake fluid since it was so last minute and it didn't even cook the brakes so something must be right there. I'd say for my set to be great I'd need a LSD, suspension and the car would be set. Aka a lot of money. I apologize for vertical pictures. |

Welcome to 1ADDICTS and congrats on a beautiful color combo! Love Alpine White and Coral Red. Cool pics!

Thanks again everyone!
Yes it did while I was being a little rough with it. I would only recommend it for DEEP cleaning needs. I use a leather brush that I bought off amazon now for monthly interior cleaning. |

Here are some DSLR photos as promised. I need to get a nicer lens rather than the kit one I'm using here.

Bulk Update:
Picked up a really mint e90 wheel from the forums. Cleaned up the stitching with a toothbrush and dish soaped water. DSC_0178 by chronumn, on Flickr DSC_0179 by chronumn, on Flickr Threw on an mhd stage 2 map to finally rid myself of my cel from the downpipe and pick up some extra power. I was hoping to get some low end because that's where I felt it was lacking most on the track. Naturally I blew my charge pipe in a few days so I needed a replacement. The VRSF piece fit the bill. A metal pipe with rubber couplers. DSC_0187 by chronumn, on Flickr Found myself back at Homestead with my old Miata I sold to my friend. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr More power = more problems Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr (blurry iphone shot) Cooked my brake fluid within 3 laps. Checked my rear pads and they were toast. Luckily I had some great friends that had brought some spare Motul rbf600 to the track so I was able to flush the old fluid and put down a few more laps before my rear pads were metal to metal. Overall the car felt great, definitely needs more camber and an LSD but other than that the car felt really solid. Bonus pics of my friends e46 daily driver. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Also I just bought a brand new oem door seal for the driver's side since mine was torn up when I got the car. Along with brand new side sill plates since mine are all cracked and falling apart at the rubber. Will make an update when they come in along with my new brake pad selection for my rears. Can't remember exactly the grits of sand paper I used but it was probably 600-2000 and then buffing with compound. |

Picked up some new OEM parts from work. Door sill plates to replaced the rotting ones, and a new complete door seal to replace the torn one that came on the car. Also my new stoptech pads came in to replace the oem pads.

Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Trying to find some second hand spacers and I may possibly lower the car but I know if I do that I will want to do camber plates and arms. |

Have you coded out the brake fade compensation? My 128i would go into a pseudo-limp mode after about 5 laps of my local track. After coding that out, I can run all day long with no brake problems.

I was not aware of this, could you elaborate a little more on it? I may need to do this before the 20th of Jan when I head back out. |
