My First Track Day

I had the opportunity to attend an open track day at VIR when a friend of a friend rented it out a few weeks ago. There was everything on track from a crx to a formula mazda. I scared myself a bit on the first few laps. The car was on stock tune and hit around 135mph on the back straight..this seemed WAY too fast at first as the braking zones come up very fast. Fortunately I had a very good instructor who helped me improve quickly. By the end of the day the only car that could come close to me was a GT-R prepped for the one lap of america competition driven by Leh Keen.

April fools on that last sentence..he did fly by me at around 170 though. I could have passed a couple of cars but most of them had double the horsepower and much better drivers

. It was still a blast and the instructor called the 135i "phenomenal and deceptively fast"

. The car was on stock everything except wheels and it held up fine except for brake fade. Definitely want to run with a beginner group now so I can pass something!

Lol awesome man...I was there in february and am going back the weekend of April 23rd for 2 days. You should join!! $395 for both days

Tempting! I def want to get back out there sometime. I need better tires and brake fluid/pads lol..

No doubt..He's driving my dad's car in that video lol. Insanely fast lap time for a street car. The gt-r he was driving last time was this beast running 315 race tires all around that were closer in width to 335 street tires

. Humbling the say the least haha.
