This coming Sunday I am giving my 135i a run in Regularity at SMSP Amaroo circuit as part the FOSC meeting. It will replace the low power/high handling/high braking MX5 so wil be totally different to drive at Amaroo, particularly as the weather forcast is for 5-10mm rain! Even so, it will be a good opportunity to evaluate the LSd and KW Clubsport suspension in a relatively non-competitive environment.
Tomorrow I am going to the AGI roll cages workshop to discuss what they can do for the 135i to help me get it passed for a CAMS log book. As I am intending to continue to use it as a daily driver the plan is to get a bolt-in cage rather than weld-in. The rear 4-point cage would stay in the car after the rear seats are removed and the front section together with door bars would be bolted in before each race meeting along with a raceseat etc. AGI do bolt-in kits for earlier BMW's so this may be the start of a new addition to their catalogue. I am aiming for the car to be ready to participate in races by the end of January. The main things to be done are improving engine cooling and upgrading the Brembos with better pistons etc.
Did you end up going to the Supersprint? I only saw 3 N54/55 powered cars on the results. I would normally be there but I was overseas at the time. A shame because I was in contention for first place this year. Congrats to John for winning it this year though.

Also, how did it go with AGI? What CAMS license are you going for that would require a full cage in the 135i? It's not required for an L2S.

I wonder who's car that is. Haven't seen it at any of the BMW events.

AGI are very impressive. I already have a national grade licence and want to get a full cage and a log book for the 135i so I can run in AASA events and maybe some of the production car race series. As I want to get away from towing a car trailer when my MX5 is sold, the 135i will perform duties as both road and track car. AGI will fit a 4 point cage in the rear and a bolt-in section to complete the 6-point needed together with roof and door bars. Like the race seat and harness, the front part of the cage will go in the day before the race meeting. All mandatory signage and numbers will be mounted on magnetic material so I can maintain a low profile while travelling to meetings. AGI had one of 2 E82 135is on hand waiting on welded in full cages for a father and son.

Very well done. A very impressive time for a road registered E87.
When I read Froop's comment about N54/N55 cars, I was thinking that too.

I did Wakefield yesterday and got down to 1:15.2, first time at Wakefield, and first in a rwd car. I know people here run 1:09, but I was happy

car has MHD S1, PSS, SSK and not much else performance wise

Makes me want to look into the BMW performance seats again.

I will be there marshalling on the day but unfortunately won't be racing. Would have loved to though.

Yeah mate.
I'll be there in my Turbo Taxi for the first time at this particular track.
(Been tracking the car for 8 years though in NSW)

Been watching lots of youtube vids on the track for the lines.

Went to the Training / Hill climb day here in Newcastle today. Pissed down rain in the morning, but we were still able to get some great racing done regardless. It cleared up nicely in the afternoon, some blistering times were set. But not by me, the little 135 was one of the slowest cars there sadly

BMW Drivers Club NSW Supersprint 1

Any other 1-series owners entered for the NSW Club's 2017 Supersprint Round 1 at SMSP Druitt (North) circuit next Saturday (4 Feb)?
I have not driven this SMSP configuration before but it looks like it should favour the higher-powered cars; kind of the opposite to the South Circuit. Am looking forward to trying it first in a Supersprint format as I will be attending a FOSC race meeting there on 18 March - the prospect of a field of about 30 cars heading into Turns 1 & 2 after a grid start on cold tyres is always exciting, and a bit scary!
