we actually had to cut short our trip to italy a couple days, but no biggie i will be back march 20th!

lots of jet lag and rdy to drive my 1

mergen- that seems like some reliable info, since the dealers really want to get the car out and get their $ i am sure bmw NA will hold them at the port.... until mid march (~3/15) and then finally let the dealers have it.

When the car gets here we have to bring it into the shop to remove packing and shipping materials, double check everything, program the computers for North America, put on a LA inspection sticker, gas it, and clean it up for delivery. It can take 1 – 2 days to have it ready to roll depending on the time of day it gets here.

This is for a delivery in Louisiana, hence the South Carolina reference. I don't know how accurate all of this is, but so far his information has been pretty reliable.
No problem. If I can't get my car on the 22nd I can sleep next to it at the dealership.

Just confirmed with the dealer that I'm on the EMDEN and headed for the South Carolina VPC. Very strange as the other 135i ordered by the dealer at the same time is going to Port Hueneme, California (which is normal). The dealer will be checking on it next week to see why--I may have to hitch a ride with a bunch of X5 and Z4 cars to New Mexico.

Why is the EMDEN's position 7 days old on sailwx? Pretty useless, it has the ship headed East to Bremerhaven, not away to US.

This seems to work pretty well for the Emden. Has a delay, but I think it is only a few hours. Also, you can use google earth with it.

Would you give me a brief "how to" for Google Earth tracking. Thanks.

Mike, if you have Google Earth installed, just go to this page and download the tracker. It will open up an interactive session with Google Earth, and you can see all ships locations as pushpins, injected into the map.

OK, I have it setup, but with I do CTRL+F and type in vessel name EMDEN, nothing comes up on the list of vessels or GoogleEarth. :iono: What am I doing wrong?

Last night, I was viewing the Maersk Wind sitting in the port at Belgium, in GoogleEArth and also on the vesseltracker website, but it is gone today. I think everyone has sailed and are now in the Channel, which is out of range for this service, apparently. That's the best I can figure, anyway. I've been using this page http://www.vesseltracker.com/en/northsea/AreaMap.html
and scrolling down with the scroll bar on the right of the map, but all of "our" vessels are not appearing on the list as of today. I think this is the same data that is fed to GoogleEarth. If you are seeing other vessels in GoogleEarth, you are probably doing it right, ours are just not in there anymore.

Thanks, mergen. You're probably right about being out of the "covered area".

Yeah, I figure the vesseltracker folks just set up some AIS receivers around certain ports and monitor from there. AIS transmits on VHF, which doesn't go very far.

Yeah, sailwx is showing the MAERSK WIND as of 1200hrs GMT today also!
http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/index.html#search

It looks like the EMDEN has about a 115+ nautical mile headstart on the WIND. They also appear to be diverting south a little, for better seas I guess.
