Incorrect.....'08 135....I have easily removed both the fronts and rears.
I actually ran without the rears for about a month then decided to put them back in.

I tried for hours to get them off, and I'm no mechanical slouch. Maybe they are attached from underneath, but I couldn't get them off. Maybe your car was built a bit differently, because it IS true for my car.

On my previous car i had a headrest mount. I used a long bar which ran on the back of the head rest rods and a small bar which ran on the front of the headrest rods connected by long thin bolts and butterfly nuts.
I basically sandwiched the headrest rods between 2 bars. |

Your headrests adjust for height...correct? Yours is a coupe...correct? on my rear ones when you hold the little button on the side of the hole grommet you can raise the height, to a point. Then there is some additional resistance, but with more upward pressure they pass what feels like an indent and then they slide right out. Maybe it's like the other thread I've been looking at http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312478 that indicates that BMW eliminated the trunk key hole on 09 models.....very strange. BMW makes these little changes just to mess with our heads, me thinks!

Hi.. yeah, that is exactly the way the fronts work.. press the side button and they are removable. Rears have a similar adjustment button, but it reaches a stopping point when raising, and does not go any further.
I've a Jan 08 prod 135i Coupe. |

On mine, the last notch you have to get over is harder than the rest - gotta yank it, also have to tilt the rear seat forward to get the headrest out because the glass gets in the way. 05/08 build date.

I take my rears off regularly when I have the seats folded down - to get more legroom in the front. Haven't tried removing the fronts, but I believe all are removeable.

Strange. My car was built right after yours, and I've had mine out since about a month after I got it. I remember they were a little bit of a pain, but they did come out. |

They are all removeable. It's awkward with the back glass in the way. Tilting the seats back and pulling will bring them off, but he likes them on, so it doesn't matter. I keep mine off cause no one rides in my back seat and they get in my way in my rear view mirror.

May 2009 128i Coupe - took my rears out the day I brought it home. No one sits back there and I prefer the improved visibility.
