Newish Member 2011 135i

Hi Guys,
My pops worked for BMW NA for 25 years so I was on this forum back when I was a shithead kid in high school. Because the perks of my Dad's job I was able to have 3 different 135i's. 2008 manual, 2010 manual, 2011 DCT.

I finally was able to buy my own 135i. Woohoo! I bought a 2011 White DCT 42k miles on it.

Everything on the engine checks out. All fluids changed and oil filter.

I am thinking my first "mod" is going to be adding the Oil Catch Can. Then I want to get a walnut blast. Then I am looking for performance.

1. Racewerks Chargepipe
2. Intercooler (Should I do the tune before the intercooler or after?)
3. Cobb or JB4 tune (Still can't decided. Leaning more toward Cobb because I know I will want a pro tune at some point)
4. Muffler delete

5. Then I'm looking to get my suspension set up for AutoXing

My main question I did have to start is I am throwing the "Extior Light Malfunctioning" symbol on my dash. It looks to me like all lights are working fine. Any tips or reasons why this may be happening??

Thank you guys in advance!!

Welcome back and post pictures!

Why do you want to delete the muffler?! The car sounds beautiful with a golf tee mod!

Considering the history of the CP's on these cars I'd actually suggest:

CP
Tune
Exhaust
Intercooler

And check the oil filter housing gasket and replace before you do anything if it's leaking. Several guys have had these leak onto the belt/pulleys.. belt slides off, gets torn up and does tons of damage.

To answer the light question check all your lights and see if the adaptive lights are calibrating on start.

Can't wait to see some pics you're gonna love the car!

Welcome!!

I would hold off on the OCC and walnut blast as the N55 motors don't have the same issue as the N54 motors with carbon build up on the valves.

CP is a must and just go VSRF, its just an intake tube.

JB4 I would do next along with blue tooth adapter to make changes and view engine parameters.

Check out n54tech site and see the support and potential with the JB4.

Then IC and suspension mods and so on, trust me it never stops.

Regarding your light malfunction I could recommend my buddy who is a BMW tech and does work from his house on the weekends and located in the SFV. Just shoot me a PM.

For all your parts the vendors here on this site are a great resource and you get parts fast. I have used Mike@x-ph.com and he is great.

Okay so I need to resize some images but I think I got one to work...

I am going to pass on the OCC and the Walnut blasting.

SO I am going to do:
CP
JB4 tune
IC
suspension

I feel like the JB4 is going to be the best bang for my buck. I was going to autoX the 135i but my brother just bought an F-mod so I don't see a need for me to get a Cobb protune. Plus can't I always just get the Cobb protune down the road on top of the JB4?

Thank you Hit redline I sent you a PM.

You guys think this CP is more cost effective than the Burger Tunning one?

With the N55 we can't have a BOV right?

Yeah pretty much any brand is fine for the charge pipe. As long as the interior is smooth and clean and it fits, that's all that matters.

It seems like they will let you order a BOV for the N55.... Going to call tomorrow and ask. I thought the N55 couldn't have a BOV of the CP

No performance gain with BOV, just a noise maker. Money better spent else where on the car.

Your car has a diverter valve.

I saw that... Of course after I made the purchase...

From what I could infer through some reviews and date checking is it seems like the fitment issue is fixed. With that being said I am a little bit worried... We will see

Will do for sure! Hopefully it goes smoothly.

I was reading that one guy removed the steering reseivor mounts to make it easier to fit or get access.

I am going to try and do it without doing that but if I am having trouble I'll try that

Okay guys! So I got the ChargePipe on!

Took only about 30 minutes. It fits really really well! I did remove the two bolts on the steering fluid reservoir to move it out of the way. The tubing off of it makes it so you can't get the right angle to fit it on.

But it fits PERFECT.

I am very happy with it overall. Throttle does seem more responsive. It is crazy how small the OEM charge pipe gets at one point on it...
