Does anyone know if you can update the Maps for the 08 135i Navigation system? It is the only one that is different from all of the 1er's and 3er's. The flip up nav.

The '08 is the DVD based system, so you just put in the new updated DVD. You may need updated firmware for the latest DVD though.

I had a very good experience with Navi-Expert. $120 for the North America 2013 maps and an FSC code... both were delivered within an hour after my order went through.
Copied the files to a flash drive and then took ~40 mins to complete the update.

Just took a look at the site and it seems to be based in Russia. No offense but a myriad of scams initiate from that country. Anyone else have a good experience with this company and not have their identity stolen?

There is a guy called Baccus advertising on the forums now. He is charging a good price. I won't quote it here because he didn't post it in his post but it is less than any I have seen here or elsewhere. Anyway, I purchased from him and got the 2014 maps and the code and all worked like a charm. He sent me the download link for the maps which I threw on a 32gb stick. I just plugged it into the car using the code he provided and all worked fine.
Anyways..not trying to schill for this guy but it was easy and really inexpensive so I thought I would share. |

No. Your Head Unit is not capable of it. You would need to retrofit a new Head Unit.

If you want "operating system" updated, you need dealer programming or flash all Control Units with E-Sys.

hmmm. I'll take your word that it's for only combox. But it does change things inherent to the UI like bugfixes to 'office', stuff like that, according to the readme. Are there any good reasons to update the firmware then? I have seen some bugs with my system, one off UI issues.
I guess my question is, is there a list of firmware revisions with a change log? So someone could then compare and decide whether to get it flashed? |

Updating firmware sometimes fixes bugs or adds new features. It makes sense to update only if you are having a problem known to be fixed, or wanting a newly added feature.
