Ok guys, got some good news, and some bad news. Which do you want first?
Bad News After spending the past few days with the engineer and the floor manager, the backlog of work on our machines has reached the point where we are working at 150% of our current capacity. What this means is that, until our new machines arrive at the end of this year, we won't be able to put the new ring & pinions into production Because of this, instead of making you guys have to wait another few months, we now have no choice but to temporarily cancel this pre-buy for the new ring & pinions. Good News We already have the MT fitment LSD in stock, and the DCT/335d fitment LSD is still on schedule for end of Aug. What this means is that, instead of offering a new ring & pinion and several price points (based on numbers of buyers), instead, we will now have only 1 price point (what was originally the 20+ price) and we will machine and modify an oem ring & pinion for you instead so that it will bolt up to the new LSD. So instead of having to wait till our back-log has cleared up, we will start offering the following within the next few weeks (we still need to make new ring gear spacers and bolts): Fitments: - 135i/335i MT Apr '07+ with 3.08 Final Drive - 135i/335i DCT with 2.56 Final Drive - 335d with 2.81 Final Drive What is included: - Brand New MFactory Helical LSD - Modified and Reconditioned oem Final Drive (Ring & Pinion) - New Ring Gear Bolts Price: (MT) 1) Send us your oem Differential Unit first (NOT the entire pumpkin) - $1279.96 inc shipping to North America/Europe/Australia or 2) We send you a pre-built Differential Unit (NOT the entire pumpkin) with modified ring & pinion first - $1779.96 inc shipping to North America/Europe/Australia. $500 is refundable after we receive your old Differential Unit + Pinion back. Price: (DCT) 1) Send us your Differential Unit first (NOT the entire pumpkin) - $1319.96 inc shipping to North America/Europe/Australia or 2) We send you a pre-built Differential Unit (NOT the entire pumpkin) with modified ring & pinion first - $1819.96 inc shipping to North America/Europe/Australia. $500 is refundable after we receive your old Differential Unit + Pinion back. Rebuild Service: Not applicable to Europe/Australia - Add $500 if you send us your entire pumpkin first, and we will rebuild it with the new LSD. Includes return shipping within the mainland US (+$100 for Canada). e.g You send us your MT pumpkin. We will fully recondition your pumpkin and rebuild with the new LSD. Total Cost: $1779.96 - Additional $500 core exchange applies if we ship you a rebuilt pumpkin first (subject to availability). Refundable after we receive your old pumpkin back e.g We ship you a fully reconditioned MT pumpkin with LSD first. Total Cost: $2279.96. Couple questions...
1) Other than lathing the OEM ring gear off the differential and drilling holes to attach to the MFactory LSD, what is involved with the "modified and reconditioned" final drive? Peening, cryo, etc.? 2) Can you explain why there is the need for a ring gear spacer, and how the design works? 3) When you do get the production line up and running, will you offer an exchange program for those that were on the group buy list? |

I would actually be most interested in the original offering (i.e. new ring and pinion gears with the differential) if it's going to be available in the next ~6 months. Any chance of offering this pricing (maybe with a deposit now) if you're still going to develop the full kit?

We will still be developing the new ring & pinions, yes, and will offer the same pricing. As mentioned though, I just don't want to promise a timeframe due to our backlog of work at the moment.

So for the time being your doing what all other machine shops/workshops are doing and machining the oem gear just at a lower cost. I'm down for that...oh look I'm no. 1 on the list

We have 5 x Large Diff 3.46 Cores in stock at the moment, for those who don't want to wait and don't mind upgrading from the 3.08 to the 3.46 ratio (which will give you faster acceleration).
