I hate dealerships that try sneaky stuff like that. I've had upgraded wheels before and the dealer tries to keep the take-offs and not give a credit.
warranty paid for it, am i still entitled to it?

Of course! They are your rims, as it is your car. There is no "core" credit, and if there was it should be paid to you. But I'm 99% sure there isn't. If they hassle you pm me and I'll call them and cuss them out lol.

Hm, I'll ask them for it. The SA said they have to be shipped back to BMW but he'll talk to the manager. I'm going to try to get them I need 2 spares lol one for the front and one for the rear.

You really should not be using anti-seize on the wheel lug bolts or caliper bolts. The design torque specification is always with dry fasteners. If you use the dry value torque specification with anti-seize applied, it acts like a lubricant and results in over torqueing of the fastener. Because of this it is possible to exceed the yield strength of the fastener or as a minimum stretch the fastener prematurely or excessively.

If you must use anti-seize, then you need to back down the applied torque by about 20-40% of the dry fastener torque specification.

I don’t use anti-seize on these types of bolts and torque them to the manufacturers recommendation (which defaults to dry values when not specified). I wire brush the bolts if looking a little bad and if really bad you can run an ez-out through the bolt holes to clean them up as well.

Keep in mind wheel lugs that are used on/off many times over the years should be replaced periodically. Also note worthy is, some manufacturers recommend replacing the brake caliper bolts every time they are taken off. Yeah but not many of us do that, but it is certainly a good idea to replace them every once in awhile. That is another good reason not to put anti-seize on brake caliper bolts.

In some applications when it is allowed to use wet or dry conditions, the manufacturer will provide both torque specification values. When the manufacturer designs a fastener application they typically pick a torque value about 80% of the ultimate yield strength of the fastener. That value is typically a dry value with no lubricant or anti-seize. So the wet value will be typically about 20-40% less torque. So you can see it is entirely possible to exceed the yield strength of the fastener with anti-seize, unless you reduce the torque.

OBTW, I used to be a Mechanical Engineer until I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express. Now I am a rock star.

Don't feel too bad. The legal terms for Replacement Warranty or Replacement Under Warranty is in the legal definition of the term "replacement" - the act of furnishing an equivalent person or thing in the place of another; not in addition to....

Went through a similar situation and got an unwanted education in the warranty terminology. Now I'm sure there's ways around it if the dealwer or BMW wanted to make an exception for the sake of customer satisfaction under some sort of accessions policy.

That would be all good and well except they damaged his wheels. That's not warranty work. That's them correcting a mistake. If I rear ended you and messed up your rear bumper, I would have to pay for it. But I couldn't say you OWE me your rear bumper.

I hear ya. But part of my crash course 'education' was that your warranty is between you and BMW. The dealership is an intermediary in the process. They are only the conduit. As far as BMW and the warranty terms are concerned the wheels were warranted by them and are being replaced under the terms of that warranty by them. If the dealer was the cause of the damage - you have a case against them. However they are required to comply with the terms of the BMW warranty in order to get BMW to supply you your replacement wheels.

Bottom line is you would sue the dealership for negligence and get additional compensation.

Exactly, and I'm sure they would rather just hand over the wheels. Sorry Chester.

In the OP's case they refused. But they were never threatened. Which is probably your point all along....

My car had 300 miles on it 3 weeks ago and I noticed stress cracks in the driver side mirror. Had to wait 2 weeks for a representative to look at it since the dealer is the intermediary. They agreed to replace it under warranty. Now its been a week waiting on parts. I am hoping to receive some "good will" and get a free oil change as well.

You seriously expect a free oil change with just a few hundred miles on the car? The first change isn't called for until 12~19,000 miles or one year - so perhaps if you had 7,500 miles...
