Clicking noise in 125i

Hey, I was wondering if anyone experiences or has this issue.

When my car is at idle it makes a clicking noise every 3 seconds which can be heard especially on the right hand side of the engine.

I'm about to take it back to BMW Auto Classic to check it out but was curious if it just normal engine sound or something else?

Thanks

Every three seconds? That seems a bit odd. I definitely don't get it on my car.

The only clicking noise I know is normal is when the exhaust flapper opens up about 1min after you start your car, or when you go about 3000rpm.

That's cause you drive a 135 and the OP has a 125.

I experience a heavy amount of clicking at speeds below 10km/h.

My thoughts are that it is the auto tranny (do you have auto)? It happens at every single change from R - D and D - R, as well as from stop to moving.

Yesterday I Googled the issue and it is quite a common noise. It apparently dosen't harm the engine. The different forums I looked at said just give it a good run on the Freeway and it should help. I did and then re-checked and the clicking gone. Still going to take it to dealer just to make sure.

btw Taymaishu - it is an Auto

Interesting - i've run a fair bit of freeway since i've had mine and it seems that i noticed it after those kilometres on the freeway were put on it!

It only happens when changing gears at very low speed and the change of direction.

I'm just assuming it's the autobox. Let me know what your dealer says!

My bad

Here's you answer: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=320299

Apparently it's a very common issue. Judging from my brief look at the thread, some members experienced issues with it and took it to the dealer.
