Replace Adaptive Xenon Assembly with Aftermarket

To all the light experts out there, I'm looking for some advice.

I have the adaptive xenon headlight assemblies. My driver's side had been throwing the AHL error message. I think this happened when I replaced a bulb and did not get the back cover on properly, as it's quite a PITA to get on.

I did some diagnosis swapped the control unit from the functioning passenger side and it still did not work. Passenger side AHL works fine.

Since replacement OEM adaptives are expensive I was thinking of getting aftermarket (non-adaptive) headlights so I don't have to mess with the AHLs ever again, and sell the one working one to offset the cost.

Has anyone ever replaced their adaptive's with aftermarket non-adaptives? Would this cause any issues? I was looking at the Spyder headlights. They are reasonably priced and I like the look. Although this link says "Not Compatible With Model Equip With Factory HID/XENON System". I'm thinking it is becuase they provide a conversion kit

Valeo makes the AHL units. Maybe you could find a cheap one on ebay.de ?
