Unhappy Long Cranks in the morning

Hey All,

Started getting long cranks in the morning and is getting longer and longer! Kinda sucks since I only got the car 1 month ago and i picked it up with 20,000km

Today it took like 3-4 second to start the car.

My question is should I take it to the dealer right now or wait till the car starts throwing error lights.

The reason I ask is that I don't really want to bring it to the dealer for just a software upgrade and then I would have to come back again in 1-2 months time to get it replaced when it actually does fail!

Not to mention my dealer doesnt give out loan car for free!

Take it to your dealer now.

Just called the dealer got the car booked in for next Friday.

Looks like I wont know whether they are going to replace it or just upgrade the software till they see my car.

Tried to get myself a free loan car no go, getting charged $49.95 a day...

I thought dealers were obliged to provide a loan car if required when the vehicle is being serviced for a warranty related issue? Guess I'm wrong though given RaihaX's experience.

Mate the usual modus operandi is to complete a software update if it hasn't already been done, then the pump is replaced after you call back still experiencing the problem.

It's good you've booked it in though, this isn't a problem you want to leave and wait for it to get worse. Which it will. And when you're driving is not the ideal time for your fuel system to crap itself.

According to Autoclassic (Perth's one and only dealer) it all depends on the dealer so, unlucky for me, autoclassic dont give out free loan car for warranty work. They do however reduce the loan car price from $99/day to $49.95/day haha....

Yeah I figure as much, may as well get it booked in now.

Was thinking of getting a V5 but now I think I may wait till my HPFP gets replaced first.

I've had my HPFP fixed by auto classic too and they told me it was a rare problem

I've never paid to get a loan car from them, not even for services. There's absolutely no reason for them to charge you especially when its the HPFP issue.

But hey, getting charged for a loan car isn't to bad, I've had worse experiences with their service deparytment anyway.

$50/day for a car when yours doesn't work is DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. $99 is just ridiculous I think you should tell them to go shove it. I'd certainly create a scene if I'm being charged for a car when it's not even my fault the car's broken in the first place.

Also, DEMAND a new pump since this is a well documented issue. Let them know that they can't pull the wool over your eyes like every other customer they flog off.

ahh autoclassic.

long cranks.. "ohh, never seen that before", AC.. "errr yeah, whateverm, it's the fuel pump", ME. so they do a software upgrade and I ask if they replaced it. "nah, this software fix fixes it"

about a month later, engine light and it ran in mega limp mode "so now will you replace it?", ME. "we'll have to check to make its that first", AC... yeah, thanks. Hire car? yeah right, we can drop you off in our bus thingo to work.

Typical of all places though, deny as much because you don't want to promise replacing stuff until it's looked into.

Also, my front wheels make a loud cracking noise when turning medium-> hard and it's happened to a few guys guys on here before and while one of the guys cars was at AC the 'head tech' from over east was here and they got him to look at it.. "Normal noise for a car with big brakes", AC.. riiiight.

Took my car to kmart to get the front's replaced.. It now no longer does it. Does BMW tighten their wheels up too tight or too loose? I recommend kmart tyre and auto in west perth, the guy there knows his 135's too!

Hmm looks like I will have to have another chat again when I drop my car off and if they still refuse I will make a scene.

I demanded for a new HPFP over the phone and told him about the US recall.

The tech said that the HPFP that the US uses is slightly different to ours. Is that true? I didnt think it was.

Sometime I wish we had more then one dealer so they will be competition...

There's a technical term for this comment known as "bullshit".

That sucks.

I've had my car in 4 times with BMW all with loaners.

Mind you, last time they got 22k worth of work and I got a 330d and a 320d coupe :-)

When my car went in for HPFP which all of us i think will have new ones as in the USA they are installing new ones like its a assembly line.
I had free loan cars all the time through excellent service WESTSIDE BMW BRISBANE they even fixed my leather bolster and they gave me a brand new black 5 series to play with heads up display fully optioned diesel, very nice.

Good to see AC hasn't changed all that much. If I could remember my SA's name, I'd tell ya to ask for him as he knows ALL about the HPFP (now). My warranty expires in September, some serious thinking time coming up.
