Your Opinions on an Exhaust

Which do you prefer?

-Active Autowerke
-aFe

^^whats the difference? They look identical..

Or do you think it's worth it to get a whole new exhaust system.

Any input is appreciated..

i personally prefer AA because of the polished finish but their fitment is shit and you'll need to bend over if you want help from them.

it isn't rocket science to make an exhaust fit properly on a car and i'm sure they know that. its most likely a lack of quality control

Ok seriously this is getting irritating...every single exhaust I want to get right when I am about to buy it gets a bad review that pushes me off of the exhaust.

1) After hours of research, and watching video's I decided I really liked the Berk Technology Exhaust...then right when I was about to buy it...a post popped up about the drone the exhaust produces. This is something I definitely did not want.

2) On to HPF exhaust. This was the perfect exhaust sounded great...in their videos they show no drone...but lone behold videos started popping up showing drone. I do not plan on spending 2k on an exhaust that drones...and I have no need for a 800hp set up so scratch that exhaust.

3) Active autowerke...they had their drone eliminating champer...perfect. Was planning on getting a ride in a couple 1addicts members cars to get an idea of the sound...and lone behold...fitment issues.

Like wtf can anyone just come out with an exhaust that does not drone...sounds good...and does not have fitment issues?

I think its going to be really tough to find an exhaust that doesn't have any drone... I've got the Berk Tech full sport exhaust and I love it... yea there's some drone, but it lessens after a couple weeks (and you just get used to it), it's really not that bad...

Either way, I think you should just consider getting a midpipe like Berk's resonated midpipes... with the stock axleback in place you'll eliminate the drone but it'll sound quite nice. Sometime over the summer when I get some free time I might swap back in the stock axleback muffler because I love the black tips.

Have you considered CP-E or MadDad?

I think perceived drone can be subjective but fitment issues are pretty consistent. I'm happy with the aggressive sound that the AA axelback and Berk midpipes produces on the n54 but wish the AA axelback fit better. Admittedly, it is slightly more centered after 10K miles LOL.

Also, remember that midpipes can contribute to a fair amount of drone.

I don't think anyone can complain about eisenmann though

Well, I've heard that they already fixed the "fitment" problem for the AA, but I could be wrong. Also, the AA exhaust is out of stock for 8 weeks...I was going to buy one but just found out

I have the Berk axleback (no muffler) and the drone is minimal and defined. As an example. Highway 6th gear drone appears at 2,800 - 3,000 rpm. city driving is no issue for me.

You know man, you're absolutely right. There's no exhaust that I'm fully in love with

1) HPF - they were suppose to be our savior. The look of the exhaust is perfect, with the huge 3.5 inch dual tip it looks freaking mean, the Ti tips are pretty lame though. It's like they don't read the forums to know no one likes them and then the price... $2k... Really? For a muffler delete? I understand their product is top notch and that's why I like them. Their FMIC is priced fairly, a bit more than others but nothing outrageous like this. I personally will never pay more than $1,500 for an exhaust and that's pushing it. I could see if it was made of 100% Ti

2) all others, they look almost like stock and in some cases worse

CP-E is the one I will prob go with. I also like the Maddad street but I would have to modify the tips cause they look weak

I have the AA exhaust, love it and it sounds really aggressive. The tips are slightly off center but doesn't bother me so much. You won't be able to buy muffler delete system that doesn't drone, maddad street series is your best bet for something like that.

Just got my AA Signature Exhaust in the mail today. I'm installing it tomorrow after work at my buddy's shop.

This is the first time I've heard about the fitment issues... I called and they were out of stock too but they had a "demo set" in the shop that they had used briefly that they sold me for a good price.

I'll post pictures/videos after the install.

We have several systems that would suit your needs. You can get our parts in staged upgrades if you are unsure about the sound volume you might want.

Start off with just the sport axleback and see how you like that. If you want more then you can add midpipes to the setup. And if you still feel like you want to open up the system you can go for our muffler delete.

As far as fitment goes I have never once heard or seen a Berk exhaust with tips that weren't perfectly centered.

What about the "French horn"?

My tips are all the way to left, I've played around with the hangers a little bit but I think I'll have to do some bending to get it to line up right... Any advice?

I believe they largely resolved that issue, but it was only a concern with the race setup to begin with.

Has anyone tried the rouge engineering? There's a video on YouTube and it sounds really good. Actually I think it's an N55 they used for the test. Their axelback is priced at like $650. Just a thought.

After a year, I till enjoy the sound from my AA exhaust.
When cruising, drone is noticeable around 2.5k rpm. The exhaust tip is slightly to the right and I am ok with that.
Other then the drone and fitment, the sound from AA exhaust is aggressive but not too over. Love it.

I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but I have the magnaflow axle back and I love it. The fitment was perfect dead center, so easy to install it took 15 min and it's a freakin steal at $559 shipped. It has a bit of drone, but all exhaust will have that. Its a good volume level too maybe a tad on the quiet side, but I may go with a midpipe to bring the volume up a tad

What is all this talk about the AA axelback not fitting properly and hanging a bit to one side or the other up or down lol. Looks like it fits fine to me and I installed it myself in my garage unless I am just oblivious to exhaust fitments....I will post a pic as soon as it lets me ive been trying forever
