Pretty sure the 1M OE exhaust mid pipe ends in a single outlet - where it bolts to the back muffler. Here is my pic of the Akrapovic exhaust: |

if I understood it correctly, there are 3 sections after the Downpipes.
Mid-pipe(s) containing the secondary cats center muffler where 2 pipes go into 1 rear muffler see the pictures of the Eisenmann exhaust here http://www.eisenmann.com.au/products/233/377/ they offer these 3 sections. |

Was just looking at all this this morning. The OEM setup is two pieces from down pipes back. The Meisterschaft I had installed this morning was three pieces, Mid Pipe, Connector from Mid Pipe to Exhaust and then Exhaust. Ill try to have pictures and reviews up by the end of the week.

The rear section of the M seems to have minimal restriction, the mids seem to be identical to the 1 series so I expect to see gains in power and sound. My 135 was borderline too loud and I anticipate the M with my mids in place to be similar if not identical. My 135 is N54 BTW |

Three basic parts yes. 1). Cat(s)/Down pipe(s) N54, or one single cat/down pipe for the N55. 2). Mid-pipe(s) containing the secondary cats N54 (N55 no secondary cats). 3). Rear muffler. |

Re: N55 midpipe
I'm intrigued by using the N55 midpipe, but wondering whether there will be any clearance problems between the M3-sourced rear subframe on our 1Ms and the resonator at the rear end of the N55 midpipe.
Thoughts? Neil Last edited by MDORPHN; 10-05-2011 at 09:07 AM.. |

Is the resonator at the end of the N55 really that much bigger than the N54? The bushings didn't seem to be bigger, it was just their construction thwat was different IIRC.

And, it's just not the subframe bushings; the 1M has an entirely different subframe and diff than the 135i. As you know, it's off of the E9x M3. Neil Last edited by MDORPHN; 10-05-2011 at 12:04 PM.. Reason: spelling |

N55 mid pipe will be a direct replacement for the N54T/1M mid pipe.
