FS: BMW Performance OEM Aluminum Strut Bar - $245 Shipped
In anticipation of taking delivery of my 135is, I bought this item among other BMW Performance goodies without realizing it actually won't fit my car. Apparently this only fits n/a models of the E8x and E9x. However if you do have a n54/n55 you can use a 2-3 washers on each side of the strut tower to clear the factory airbox. Alternatively if you have an aftermarket filter, clearance should not be issue. This item is still brand new, unused and comes with all mounting hardware.
Check my iTrader feedback, PM if interested. Retails for $277 shipped, asking $245 shipped to 48 states or $235 picked up in NNJ. Last edited by 3002 tii; 10-15-2013 at 11:08 AM.. |

No not for camber. Purpose of this is to tighten up the front end and make it more rigid; theoretically helps with turn in although truth is there cars at least in coupe form are pretty rigid to begin with. The bigger benefit is probably how it reinforces the shock towers (do a quick search on cracked or mushroomed shock towers, which happens when you hit a nasty pothole). Most importantly it's bonafide under hood bling.

Very true! Hinged designs are a joke, the bar is only as strong as that hinge! Considering this is an oe BMW piece and is cheaper than most aftermarket inferior products, it's a pretty good buy if you planned on doing this mod anyway.
I'm actually considering just installing this with 3-4 washers. As long as it clears airbox and doesn't touch the hood may as sells |
