HELP ME!!!

Hello my fellow addicts.
Life and it's changes has interviened and has caused continued ownership of my beloved 1M a highly futile proposition.
I have moved to Canada and was prepared to bring my cars with me under the understanding that my cars will be simply brought over except for minor fees/ charges. My other cars (2014 x3 and F15 x5) are all but duty free but the 1M is not. I'd have to pay duty on the current value of the car (we all know that that figure is identical to what it was 4 years ago) PLUS fees to change clusters ect...
After many sleepless nights I finally succumbed to dealer offers and the reality of the situation. I returned my car to the original place of purchase and walked away financially rewarded but emotionally empty....
That was 4 weeks ago.
Now I'm faced w a harder task... I can't get her out of my mind. I visit the site as she sits unsold and my heart just aches... Enough to tempt me to go win her back...
If there is someone on here that could find it in their heart to put me out of my misery I'd be eternally grateful...

It's too expensive. Sadly it will sit there for a Long time.

Did you see this: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1082895

This would take your pain away. I know it too. I sold mine and trying to find another one too. Good luck.

Damn free trade. Only products made in USA are 'duty free'

The US dollar is strong so would you consider buying a Canadian 1M?

why do you need to change the cluster? USA 1M's have both MPH and KMPH.

You don't have to change it but Canadian cluster has KM. It shouldn't be an issue for personal use.

I called DOT and they said you didn't for personal import. You need a letter from manufacturer that says it's basically the same except for minor labeling. I asked the lady about the speedo and she said not for personal import with the mfg letter. I don't know who providence is? I'm just going by what DOT said to me. It doesn't matter anyway because the OP is in Canada and the use KM and Canadian-eh dollars.

Believe me I tried everything. I thought I was on-top of this going in but if there is one thing this process thought me is that the rules depends on which immigration/ custom officer you talk to on any given day... First I was told I didn't need a change then I was told that I did then again I didn't... I was all set to go and ultimately I was advised that I do indeed need the cluster change to register the car in Canada...

Ok, sorry I got confused. I was referring to the Canadian car that is for sale. I was considering importing to USA. The DOT in USA determines if it needs changes in US. You are referring about changing your USA to KM. That's different. I never spoke to Canadian people about taking US version there. But you could buy the black Canadian loaded car for $41K and it is already in Canada! That is what I was trying to say in my post. I hope you look at it and it's worthwhile for you.

Good luck and welcome to the 1M Regret Club! : )

Back in 2008 I imported a 2007 335i Coupe from Oregon to Vancouver, and I did not have to change the cluster, since the US car had both Miles and KM (inner smaller circle). All I needed back then was a letter from the US BMW dealership and the Canadian Custom did not require any other things. I did have to pay 6% duty though.

Here are links about importing US cars to Canada:

I don't know which part of Canada you are in, but I know this Doctor is selling his BSM fully loaded 1M with only 9800KM (5500 miles) in Vancouver asking Cdn$ 68K. It was the show car at the Toronto Auto Show and he bought it right there and then shipped it back to the west coast, now he is making room for his Alfa 4C. If you are interested PM me.

I'm not so sure this is seller's remorse as much as it is a sales pitch for the dealer.

if OP was handsomely paid in American dollars for his 1M and then was able to
move to Canada he should be able to purchase a car in Canada and walk away with a 1M in the same condition and some pocket change.
