Anyone know where I can find a DIY for a trunk install on the 135i?

My Slek trunk is arriving Wednesday, and I'm having a hard time finding any threads on how to remove the old trunk, install the new one, etc. I'm fairly mechanically inclined and sure I could do the job on my own, but I like to read ahead of time to head off any potential pitfalls. ;P

I did find one thread in the DIY section regarding the install of an iCarbon trunk, but the original poster removed all of his pictures and posts for some unknown reason. Further searches have turned up nothing.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

Here is a decent one that I used. It's for the E46, but BMW doesn't change much over the years as far as internals goes. They stick with what works.

If you are mechanically inclined, it's a very easy install. Should take one person about 3 hours. Only use one of the hydraulics to open the trunk and keep it open. Using two causes it to catapult objects far distances. I didn't need to modify, cut, grind, file, or sand my iCarbon trunk. Everything just bolted right up. I would assume it would be the same for a high-quality company like Slek. Haha

I am still debating about getting the CF trunk lid. Both Icarbon and Slek are great. $899 shipped for the Icarbon is not bad at all. Let see some pics

Hey thanks Bogart, I really appreciate it. Did you have to splice any wires in your install though? Thanks.

Nope, no splicing wires. Everything just slides out. A little bit of a challenge to get the wires back in where they need to go. Does yours still have the manual lockset to open the trunk with a key? Mine didn't, but the CF trunk had the hole for it, so I bought some hardware to plug the hole. Be careful not to over-tighten the center brake light strip. It's a funky spring loaded setup, and doesnt have to be that tight to seal.

Awesome thanks! Yes, my car is an 08 so it still has the lock. I'll post pics once I get it all together, it should show up Wednesday. Thanks again.

K, I just spent an hour looking around back there, and it's as simple as can be. To prep, I already removed the cover, emergency handle, and the two little knobs that push out easy with push pins. I can't imagine this taking longer than a couple hours once I get the trunk. The only thing I don't know how to do now is how to remove the roundel. I don't want to pry too hard. Any tips for roundel removal? Thanks so much for your help already!!!

Oops, nm, I found out how to remove the roundel. Now, what about the handle on the outside the trunk, between the two lights? I didn't see an obvious way to get this out.

Trunk got bumped up in shipping too, it's arriving tomorrow! I'll have some pics of the it installed by Wednesday.
