Some ignorance here. The E46 M3 is slow as a wet week. The engine feels sluggish and anemic. Seriously underpowered. And E46s are old now and they show it.

I would test drive both first but if your heart wants the M3, go for it.
For me, the 135i makes a lot more sense, there are too many reasons why it's the better car. Also, decide whether you plan to mod it or not. The M3 is a perfect package out of the box whereas the 135i is only rated at 50% of its potential from factory. Having said that, it still gives the M3 a good run for it's money on the track and will kill it in a straight line. With a few mods you can get 100kw over stock and make it handle like an M car anyway. |

thanks for the thoughts guys....I think I will be going for a 135i. Mainly because an old car is an old car whether M or not. I think I would much rather be getting into a newer car every morning. The fact that the 135i is so potent seals the deal. I would still love an M car but only when (if) I can afford a newish one. This is what I have realised after some deep pondering....

In that case, welcome to the club, Tintin
It shouldn't be too hard to find a N54 engine with your name on it! |
