The 135 is faster.

I think it's a cool SUV, and they're pretty fast from a dig, but they're also very heavy, suck gas like mad, and fall on their face once you hit triple digits. I think you'd need your head examined to ditch a 135 for one, but that's JMO.

The SRT8 is quite frankly a piece of shit. I would buy either a Overland or Limited with a Hemi and call it a day if you want a Grand Cherokee for a daily driver. I picked up a 2008 X-Package Laredo last year for a steal and loved it through this winter, but it is a treat everytime the rain breaks and I hop in my 1'er.

The SRT8 is useless. My father was considering purchasing one and modifiying the exhaust so he could tow his boat with it, only logical that a SUV (even a Performance SUV) should be able to tow a boat... Turned out to be far from cost effective.

Other things we HATED about the car was the cheap look of the interior styling (far worse than my two-toned leather seats with the cheap alcantara and boy racer touches here and there) and the trim on the rear passenger side window was already falling off (car had ~30k miles).

Jeeps are solid cars, the warranties are great, and have always been dependable for me. However, having to chose between a 135i and a SRT8 is a no brainer. If you like the idea of high HP V8, get a Challenger/Camero or used M5/E63.

Do you like driving fast in the hills in a compact sports coupe or do you like being shot of the line in a 2-ton tank?

Resale sucks... Sucks gas like a pig... No fun to mod...

Hope I haven't influenced you too much.

-Current owner of a Grand Cherokee and 135i, telling you not to buy the SRT8.

You can drive the Jeep SRT fast...in the Hills, where ever those hills are! Lowered and tuned Suspension, Low Profile tires, Brembo brakes....it drives well, unless over bumpy pavement.

Mustangs still have solid rear axle. You can see it in the choppy treadwear on the rear tires.

As for BMW vs Dodge, I don't even know where to begin. The quality of the build, the full range of speed, the options, and God knows the WARRANTY.

Even if the Jeep was MUCH faster (which it isn't), I would never sacrifice the quality. Do you want a super-fast POS, or a really fast BMW? Hey, if the Jeep is faster, then you can go reeeeeally fast when driving yet again to the dealership for yet another problem that will yet again NOT be covered under warranty. Yep, sounds like a plan.

Bob Nardelli has killed Chrysler, plain and simple. Even with the Fiat buyout, they are still being slated for disappearing in two years.

There just is no comparison for quality.

Sounds good, keeping the 135! At least until summers over.

It already comes with Brembo's that just manage to stop the 4500 pounds of muscle that car is. If your going to poor all that mod money into the SRT8 and take a hit on the depreciation when you realize its nothing more than a truck that has a ton of horsepower (that also can't tow, go offroad, or go further than the 1/4 mile straight on the race track, etc.).

I suppose you could pick up one of the many used SRT8's on the market for 25k or less and see how you like it, then sell it to a friend's wife.

I too had two Jeep SRT8's (06' black and 07' silver). I traded the black one in for the silver because of paint issues, as mentioned by others above.

My 07' was a beast! With a flash and intake I ran a 13.03 @ just under 106. With headers and cat back I ran consistant 12.70's @ just under 108...

For me the ride quality and build quality was very poor, and I wanted a stick again. Also, my truck would wake up my infant son and wife when I started it in the morning, I sure the people next door were probably disturbed as well...

All this said, the 135i is a very different vehicle. The SRT8 does deserve a little respect, but really falls significantly short of the BMW's quality. I had fun with my Jeep, but do not regret getting rid of it.

Just my .02...

No, it is not slower....the Jeep is faster stock for stock. I had 2 Jeep SRTs, a Bee, and have a 135 on order. The Jeep is a Stop light Beast. Now, all vehicles are selling for huge losses.

I choose the Trailblazer SS over the SRT as my other car because atleast it can be used as a truck, rides nicer, is nicer inside, and is just a tiny bit slower. The SRT can not even tow anything, the exhaust is center mounted....dumb!

This thread is a joke right? I'm sure the OP is just F**king with us.
Nobody cross shops a Jeep SUV with a BMW 135i. Nobody.

Yes, the GT-R. It is a fun vehicle, AWD and all the goodies. It is the first car I paid over sticker for because I had to have it. Now you can get them for almost list. It handles a little snow great, and is good in wet conditions. When it is dry out, and you get on it, it just rips. It does makle the Jeep SRT seem slow from a dig, and can walk my E55 211 up to around 80, and then that big 8 starts really pulling. Mine has been trouble free so far, but some are having trans problems buy playing with the Launch control I ran my neighbor who has a 09 Z06 and I take him easy, but he is old like me and must have an arthritic elbow. My Grandson loves it, while my Granddaughter prefers the E55. We are getting rid of the X5 4.4 which my wife drives and she is getting the 135 Vert and a Honda Pilot to haul the dog and her junk. Would I rush out an buy a GT-R now? No, I would get a ZR-1, if they ever come down in price.

Give it a year or two and you should be able to get one for msrp.

To answer a few questions. The SRT is a beast of an SUV. A guy down the block from me has the Twin Turbo SRT. It will eat any vehicle you throw you at (in the straights) .

Btw wth is Templedog thinking? Trailblazer SS? Have fun being 200lbs heavier, 40hp down, and I believe RWD? Go ahead and get the Jeep SRT-8, but don't trade in your 1'er for it.

Buy a sports car to go fast. Buy a jeep to go offroading. Don't buy a gas guzzling red light beast jeep that has no capabilities offroad. Gravel to me isn't offroad.

Al Bundy Dodge instead of a BMW?

Why is this thread still going?

BMW Factory considered one of the best in the world. Chrysler, a bunch of greedy drunken slobs, where you have to check the date of the build on the vehicle to make sure it wasn't built on a Monday (workers have hangovers) or Friday (workers don't care)

The company hired Bob Nardelli, the man who nearly destroyed Home Depot, to fix them. Did he? Golly gee, not hard to figure out that one.

Who in their right mind would think that these items mean "I should buy a Dodge". It's the Al Bundy mobile for a reason!!
