Man, we all do a lot to separate ourselves, don't we? It's kind of funny to see as a noob E82 person. I don't understand either position, the 135i superiority complex, nor the 128i generalizations about 135i owners (which I suppose could be the inferiority complex).

What, because a car has a turbo it's better? And what, because a car has a turbo all of the sudden that driver doesn't appreciate driving? Seems to me that both standpoints are basically ridiculous and based on nothing but keyboard muscles.

I suppose we're all more alike than we like to admit!

It's not that, we're all aware the 135 is a great car. 135 owners tend to assume we get 128's because we're cheap or it's all we can afford while that is far from the case for many if not all of us. I never have once said that the 135i is a bad car, just that it's a different driving experience and that is not preferred by myself. The fact of the matter is that both are fantastic cars, they just need to be appreciated in different ways.

I will admit that we sometimes act like children over the matter.. it's rather frustrating to be constantly looked down upon because of a horsepower difference and that often gets a rise out of us.. errr.. me...

But i will be laughing when my 128 hits 100k and is running perfect and most of the 135 owners have had 2 cars since getting rid of their 1er.

Line was broken, air was introduced, you managed to cap off the feed line AND the slave cylinder at the same time. Your three lightning fast hands must be a sight to see.

Glad you had no problems but mikal7 ought to at least know the correct way and make an informed choice.

Statistically, on this forum at least, 135 owners outnumber 128 owners if you go by Engine/Exhaust/Drive train modification threads. So while both camps display an amazing amount of bizarre prejudice, the 128 owners are drowned out by the cacophony from the 135 camp. It's just tiring. I admit TheSt|G does a great job of balancing things out (is there a smiley for poking people in their ribs? )

I've only had my pre-owned 128 for less than 2wks and so far it's been a great daily driver! I saw it at a dealership...liked it...bought it.
If it was a 135 (instead) it wouldn't have made a difference to me. The late model 1-series is my favorite BWM by far. It fills the void when I can't bomb around in my Harley.
andrey_gta....can I contact you for that "guy" in North York? I'm going to need a good mechanic to take care of my car. No stealership for me....
btw...how do you guys create your "Garage List" in your signature?

No worries, just sharing my experience! I remember worrying about it, then finding a thread about people saying the same thing and seeing dozens of people do it the way i described without issue.

On a more related note, i'm glad the 128 section finally has consistent posting!

Guys, I think I have a problem. The first car I drove was my MB 190e 5 speed with over 320k miles, my second is a MKIV GTI and it now has about 130k miles and still going very strong.

Now I have this brand new 1er with rear wheel drive. And it is just too damn fun! I don't know why but I did my first doughnut tonight in the rain in huge empty parking lot and in a few days I will be participating in an autocross event.

I am really driving this car hard and it puts a nice big grin on my face. I think after I push this car hard at the autocross event I will really cool things down. I just want this car forever.

Shrug, I'd argue because it has a turbo it is much worse and completely undesirable for me.

No one answered my clutch question, any aftermarket ones suitable for hpde?? Let me know.
