N55 Mids + PE

Here's mine.

First up: BMW PE, axle-back only with no res-delete, stock N54 mids and stock DP's.



Then I added N55 mids, chopped off the resonator and used the PE res-delete.

did you get that dp back custom fabricated? sounds nasty, what are the measurements of the mids-axle back?

I have the oem midpipes on there. Just cut off the resonator and then had the rest of it fab'd from that point on. All the same width as the oem mid pipes with some 3.5 or 4 inch tips... If i can get my car washed and my go pro charged I may try to make a driving vid of it at full wail. Sounds really good then.

hmm, i had a res delete on my oem n55 mids then bought berks with the res, got rid of highway drone, but also made it quieter...i have berk race axle back, but im getting a custom quad setup done using the existing berk mids and going 3.5-4" for the axle back...hope that makes it growwwlll a little more (and catless dp)

Borla Axleback on a DCT 135. Took it on a track day at Daytona. The tips bronzed themselves on a previous track day (they came from the factory looking like chrome).

Update to the above video and my previous post. I recorded that video minutes after I finished installing the exhaust. And since then I really didn't like the sound. That was until a few days ago when I noticed that the sound was starting to change. Today I REALLY noticed the change. She's got her snarl back. No longer is it a steady tone, she rumbles a bit like she used too, only now its a little deeper. The burbles are constant, and although not as loud as I would like, the burbles are deeper and always there on the overrun. I'm really starting to like the sound now. Adding my new aFe instake and the sounds this car makes are heavenly. I can only imagine what adding some mids would do.

Looks like I might have to make a new video soon. And try to figure out how to capture the intake and turbo spooling sounds from the front without the wind causing havoc on the camera. Sorry if my above review was a bit premature and possibly swayed some decisions. Which is why I wanted to post this up now. I only have about 1k miles roughly on the exhaust now. I guess I just had to break it in.

N55 Active Autowerke axle back, Berk Downpipe, N54 midpipe

Long and boring, but informative video of my 2011 N55 135i with Active Autowerke Axle back, Berk Downpipe, and N54 midpipe. Nearly perfect sound to me. I needed the N54 midpipe to trick inspection and calm the sound and stink. Cold start up, warm idle, windows up, windows down, driving around, and accelerating.

Anyone have any firsthand experience with a Berk axle back sport vs BMW Performance sport? From the sound clips posted, the BMW sounds a little better/deeper, but the Berk's price being half the BMW makes it an attractive option.

Any thoughts?

Definitely hit me up if/when you do post another vid.
i have been back and forth for some time now as whether or not to go street or race along with mids. i want the race's sound, but fear i may get way in over my head for a daily driver.
