How do these attach to the phone?

i am using this on my iphone
simply just attach it. all i can describe is, it only a tad smaller than iphone so it just attaches and removes easily. but not so easy that it will drop the phone out of the cover.
i tried myself by just holding on to the case itself and shaking vigorously but phone still attached.
