Matt's Project 135i
... Ok so my EVO 8 is Gone and its time to grow up ... lol well kinda. Ive recently purchased a Black 135i and well i cant leave anything standard.
The Goal... to continue the BMW style while making the car a bit tougher.... increase the power, handling and overall retain the BMW comfort and luxury. Modification 1: Advan RZ 19x8 Front and 19x9 Rear. Advan Sport V103 Tyres Review. With the track wider and an overall better tyre then the standard run flat the car is smoother and rides better although having a lower profile tyre. The car handles better and the ability to throw it it corners harder. Modification 2: Arqray Quad Exhaust + 3D Design Carbon Diffuser Increased Note and look. Modification 3: ICarbon Front Lip Modification 4: Procede Macht Schnell Panel Filter Berk Technology Mid Pipes Future Mods: RaceWerks Charge Pipe with Tial BOV Air Conditioner Boost Guage M3 Front Sway Bar AR Downpipes Catted Maybe a Meth Kit Attached are pics so far .. Sorry quality is Bad... Last edited by Raz0s; 06-05-2011 at 04:21 AM.. |

Hey bro, very nice taste in rims! I was thinking about chucking Advan RZs on my 135i. If you dont mind me asking, where did you purchase the Advan RZs from? Australian supplier or overseas?
How would you compare your Evo 8 vs. the 135i in terms of real world performance? |

Hey mate... I have a vendor here in Australia who sources them direct from Advan Japan for me.
Company is call Autotechnik Tuning in Sydney. Number is PH: 02 9825 8571 MOB: 0410 200 067. His name is Budi. Tell him Matthew referred you. I am sure he will take care of you. Its a big difference from EVO to 135. The Evo was a rough well race car... in regards to straight out speed The BMW can give it a run fot its money on the straight. Turbo pick up on 135 is very impressive. Although smooth it gets up to speed quick. Handling is great on 135i Close to 50/50 distribution. Ofcourse AWD helps the Evo but the 135 can hold its own. I dont have any regrets and look forward to bringing out the potential of the 135i |

^ Glad to hear the 135i can hang with an evo, not that I doubted it lol. I was looking at an evo or a 370z prior to the 135i, but they didn't have that sense of refinement to it.
In terms of suspension, I've heard KW v2's are brilliant coilovers. Those will be my mod of choice if I was to upgrade the suspension! Thanks for the contact number. |

Can you give a father out shot? Im debating 18 or 19 in RZs and a bit of perspective would be nice.
And you def need a drop man. KWs are the standard but, but a lot of race teams use ASTs. Its worth looking into. |

Funny this is mate I was looking at a Evo X or 370 as well and i dunno it just seemed like the same old thing... nothing special. I am happy with the BMW choice and cant wait to get a tune. My brother has a E92 M3 and I need to bring him down a few notches BrokenVert Reply: I know what you mean in regards the drop and concerned. To me what makes the BMW so great is that its the perfect compromise between performance, style and luxury. I want to drop it but i want to be careful not to disturb the balance of the car as well if i drop i may scrub on the vendors .... not a good look on a BMW. But this area will be addressed soon jzhang reply: I will get this for you ASAP. Probably once my front lip is here in a week or 2... BTW great work on your car aswell Very clean. MrBlonde reply: Cheers mate appreciate the comments. I look forward to seeing your build coming along. |

Yeah the mods make it look schmick! Also like the selection of Yoko feet you fitted it out with, V103's are definitely one of the best.

Car is looking good mate. Exhaust looks very sweet. I'm waiting for my icarbon lip as well along with the mirror cap replacements. I'm expecting to receive them on Thursday. I recommend the KW V2's if you're interested in a drop along with some handling. I'm happy with mine but I need to adjust the settings as it's performing similar to stock, a fair bit of understeer. You'll find your 135i will outrun most Evo's quite easily, even modded ones. The 135i is a beast!

No noises so far, I think it depends on who does your install and whether they do it properly. I had some issues with my rear installation but the workshop fixed it no questions asked, great service. I'm happy with the V2's but have not been able to push my car properly since having them done though. The next step for me is the sway bar (when the Aussie dollar gets better) and my suspension will be completed. Installing coilovers purely for the dropped look is worth it imho but the increased handling is like going from RFT's to conventional tyres, it's night and day.
