comfort access doesn't work if you have cold hands?

So the first two days we had the car here in NJ were cold and rainy. My wife's hands are notoriously cold. She tells me that in the rain, she had to use the fob buttons to unlock the door; it wouldn't work with just her hand on the handle. She has this problem with heat-based crash bars they install on doors of some commercial buildings.
Anyone else encounter this?
