Gill Rocks!

Hi All:

Spent DAYS agonizing over the choice of replacements for the Portenza runflats on my 2008 135i. Researched everything said on here, on Tire Rack, locals, bathroom stalls, .

Spoke with Gill, he was EXTREMELY helpful and knowledgeable, and I finally placed my internet order.

Gill called me a bit later to ask if I purposely ordered the wrong size. NO, I am just a senile idiot, and Gill saved me from myself. Thank you, Gill, for reviewing my on-line order. That seems above and beyond to me.

What am I ending up with? The Continental Extreme Contact DW's: 225-40's front, 255-35's rear. Please bombard me with positive reinforcement: Any day I have to make a decision lately is a tough day.

Gill does rock.

I love the Michelin's Pilot Sport A/S which he also recommended.

I just walked back in the building from our test track where we are running the Michelin PS2, the Conti DW, the Goodyear F1 Asym., and Kumho's Ecsta LE Sport head to head. Though there is not a lot of overall difference in lap times between any these tires, I ran my fastest two passes on the Conti DW.

so Gil after running that nice comprehensive test, what's your take on best overall (other than slightly faster run on the conti's)?

I'm rooting for the PS2's, as that's what I'm running.

That's a good looking tire! I'm sure your purchase will be justified as soon as you drive away on those bad boys.

The Goodyear, the Conti and the Michelin all felt the same. The Kumho felt slightly less connected but was still impressive.
The lap times are the only difference I can point to. We are splitting hairs after all. These are all great tires.

+ 1 for a positive review

I've purchased 3 sets of tyres from Gill and I'm based in Australia and it was an easy experience. I've recommended him to a few fellow 1addicts too
