Well had a bitch-kitty of a time getting the "ghost" image to come out. It was only noticeable when the trunk lid was up. Took a finishing polish and some time but it came out looking nice. Much cleaner in my opinion.

Wasn't trying to offend anyone. Just didn't understand. I appreciate the freedom America provides.

i debadged for the cleaner look and stealthy look for a person to be like whoa what car is that? not to be a poser or make people think i have a 128i. Anyone who knows about 1er's would know the brakes, diffuser and black exhaust tips are on a 135.

You'd be surprised how many people don't know the difference between a 128 and 135.
Of course the members here know the difference. To each his or her own. I like the badge. It's small and looks perfect on the car. IMHO Last edited by PA135i; 05-22-2011 at 07:57 PM.. |

You'd be surprised at how many people haven't a clue what it is with or without the damn badge.

If you were referring to me, I'm not, nor were in the least offended. It would take far more than words on a screen to offend me. Why you could even call me a douchebag or a poser and it makes little nevermind to me

P.S The 135 was out and if it was possible I would have also removed the Bmw badge.

I like my shadowline badge. It gives the car just a hint of menace, especially to anyone who pays attention and knows what the car is.

The rear of my 128i vert is naked but that is because I like the look, not because I want to pretend I have a 135i. I have the sport package so I have the shadowline trim. I don't like the chrome numbers on my alpine white vert. I thought about getting black numbers but decided naked was best. I also have a plain black frame around my license plate for a similar reason. I put mud flaps on (black) partially for the appearance and I changed the kidneys to matte black. I just think black and white is enough, I do not need chrome too.
Naked also saves a few minutes when waxing. I found "goo gone" (got it at Walmart) to be very helpful in getting of the residual from the stick on tape they used to attach the numbers. I also used goo gone to remove the silly legal message on the sun visors (inside the car). Simple, black and white, no chrome. Jim

yeah, people are overanalyzing this...its all about how you want your car to look...this is why we mod our cars right? to look different from the rest.

I got the matte black numbers from JLevi. Looks great on on my SGM!
And wow, never figured you could read so much into someone's character by the color/lack of a badge on their car. LOL! |

i debadged mine so people think i have a 135... but now that the 1m is out, i may put the M badge on so people think i have that. I also left the price tag on the car so people can see how deep my pockets are.
seriously though, i ordered a badge delete from the factory because it looks a thousand times cleaner. and when i debadged by 2003 330Ci, i wasnt at all worried if people thought i owned a 2000 323Ci... its all about the look not really worried about what the population thinks i drive, and i already know where i stand, you 135 drivers are better than me as a person. cheers! |

this + 200000. i'm proud to have the car i have. bare metal doesn't make it look any better or less cluttered. in fact, i think it cheapens the car. i bought this car. i didn't assemble it as a kit. it's a 135 and always will be. this is where i draw the line and challenge the notion of "to each and their own". same with blacking out...murdering... stealthing... okay. murdering/stealthing = not knowing how to tastefully mod your car so you default to the easiest solution... black everything out! /rant.

FWIW, I've debadged just about every car I've owned except the 1er. It looks cleaner to me, and is easier to polish/seal/wax around. This time around I went with the matte black badges... looks debadged from afar, 'menacing' up close, and a PITA to detail around.

That's exactly what happened with me, I went to take the chrome 135i badge off to put a shadow line badge on. Saw it looked awesome, and kept it "de-badged"
