I avoid some of the gongs by getting into the car, shutting the door and putting my seatbelt on before sticking the key into the slot. But if there is a way to make the gongs quieter, please help us out here.

yeah i wouldn't expect so.. people are too lawsuit happy here for BMW to be able to offer this. i'm even surprised they'll let you switch traction control off...
