Not sure if anyone has seen this before, but I wanted to share what I found. During my 1m exhaust conversion I found that my previous wheel set up had begun to wear a hole in my fuel filler neck which crosses the top/inside portion of the well. The fuel filler neck is plastic, so you can see the problem. The wear point was at the top, dead center of the wheel well, exactly where my wheel would rub when the rear was compressed.

My set up was 18" x 9.5 et 56 running Kumho 265/35/18 and dropped to about 1 finger between the top of tire and the lip. Just a heads up incase anyone else is running similar ET's / widths.

I may be wrong but you might want to check your spring rate considering your drop is not very extreme!

525 lbs/in, it didn't rub all the time, just on very large dips but mostly when going in and out of a steep driveways.

Thanks for the warning OP. I have high offsets with 275 tires, and although I'm not lowered, I'll check my fuel filler neck the next time I remove the rear wheels.

Thanks for the heads up, considering your spring rate is high, i maybe suffering from the same issue...gotta check my fuel filler neck one of these days just to be on safe side...

The way it's set up it really sticks out there. Just worth a look next time you pop your wheels off.
