Bought SF71's. Need input on tires/rim function > form...

Hi All,

I went in on the group buy on Alufelgen's SF-71.

I figured as they were designed around the 1series fitment, I wouldn't have any trouble getting 255 AD08s on there.

I REALLY REALLY want a proper tire. That is the entire reason I bought rims in the first place. I was really wanting to go with AD08s.

Now I find myself in a bit or a predicament. I can't get the AD08s on there easily based on members trying to do the same now and getting no luck in doing so.

I could (but prefer not to) sell these new rims in the box still, and try to find a rim that would work, but how do I shop backwards on a rim?

I like the style of the stock 261s. If they were 8 and 9 wide I would take them in a heartbeat. I like the SF-71s though I am not totally in love with them.

Not sure what to do. I definitely don't want to pick suspension settings based on getting rims to fit. I need them to work well first.

Thanks for your help!

Go 265 Hankook's, they recently placed 2nd overall in a big tire comparison.

Someone said they did 265/30's in the back on the SF71's with no rubbing. But go double check the thread.

In TireRack's review the AD08s came in above the Star Specs, which are above the V12's.

Do you feel the V12's are close to on par with the AD08s? Like splitting hairs difference?

I was planning on doing a PSS 265/30. Roll the fenders if need be, worth it! AD08s a awesome too, but wide. Guess it depends on what type of driving you are doing.

1&done:

Sectional width is 0.2" wider on the PSS than the AD08s according to the Tire rack website. Am I wrong in using that measurement as the relative width of the tire?

Mr. Nice:

I very well might have to do that.

Yep, you're right, tread width is .3" more on the AD08 though and the PSS has a rounder sidewall. Not sure if it would would work, I would say a roll for sure if you are in the 265 arena.

Thanks 1&done.

Since Liub is reporting rubbing on all 4 corners on the AD08s, I can't see it ending well simply or cheaply. I don't mind rolling the rears, but fronts? No.

I guess I can wait to see someone fit PSS and go from there, but I'm thinking of going to 18's more and more. I kinda just want to go to 261s and call it a day.

I am going to go 18's too. I think the SF-71 looks great on the 1er just prefer a wider tire. Best of luck

I sold the SF-71's, looking for a different rim as well.

Oh mate you sold it! That's a shame .

I'm still trying to make this setup work and is exploring camber options now, something I was bound to do sooner or later anyway. But best of luck in your new rim search! I really would recommend you stick with 18"s though.

Yeah Liub, thanks brother! It looks like I'm going to settle on the Apex's, and try to run 255 all the way around. Should handle better in the end! It's going to cost me more than planned, so it will likely have to wait till next year for all the suspension work i'll need, but I should be happier in the end, and this way I can happily burn down my run flats
