Water pump failure 9 days out of warranty, dealer or indy?

Well my water pump crapped out on me today (2008 n54, 40k miles). Should I bring it to BMW and play my chances at a good will repair or just bring to an Indy shop?
UPDATE: Some what good-willed. Ended up paying $300 out the door for the repair.

That happened to me with my MKIV GTI about 2 weeks after the warranty expired. Took it to the dealership and they replaced it out of goodwill for free and covered under my warranty.

Definitely call the dealer, and then corporate if need be.

Talk to the dealer first. Explain the situation. Don't just bring it in and say "do it" but ask "would you guys be willing to cover this under good will?" Theres a pretty decent chance.

I know a number of people who've gotten warranty service for things that happened just of warranty. Give it a shot.

Definitely go to to the dealer and see if they can goodwill the repair. Bring donuts. Or pizza. Usually they'll cover this sort of thing rather than leave a bad taste in your mouth that may sway you to go to another manufacturer for your next vehicle.
