130i sucking gas like a sponge, please help!

Could someone suggest any reasons why my 2007 130i fuel consumption is so high? I'm not kidding, I'm getting 20kms (12.4miles) per gallon!😩

The car has no noticeable problems, no hesitation, not lazy, no acceleration issues, no weird sounds

What could it be? Thanks for helping me out!

is that US gallon or Imperial gallon?

Auto or Manual?

City driving or highway?

I would pull a sparkplug out and have a look. Also have you checked for any codes? Sometimes your engine will throw a code but not turn on an engine check light.

I would also look at your O2 sensors and the Lambda values with the engine running. That will tell you whats going on.

You could also have a simple vacuum leak and the engine will dump in more fuel to compensate for it. You could spray some NON-flamable brakekleener around the intake with the engine running to see where a vacuum leak is.

Thank you all for your responses. Mine is automatic transmission. It is basically city driving with medium to heavy traffic.

I will check the air sensor and also for error codes. Could this be also related to the fuel filter?

I will also try to do the leak check

Looks like there is a good chance you need a software update. We had another member in the N52 engine section reporting the same problem and had it fixed via a DME update:

Actually I did an ECU remap in January. I got the car enhanced from 265hp to 280hp. But before that change I already had this fuel consumption issue . I had tried Liqui Moly additives (different types), changing my way driving, changed the spark plugs to NGK iridium... I have a magnaflow catback and a K&N filter (not an intake, just the filter).... Oh well...

I really appreciate your guidance bro and everybody else too. (y)

The flash only writes over your current DME tune. You need BMW to update your car/transmission modules to fix the issue assuming its the same problem as the other person had. You're tuner can put another tune on after they update your DME as it will be erased after it comes back from the dealer, they are usually happy to help.

Thanks man! I will try and see if the BMW dealer does this and then the shop that re-programed my car re-does it hehe

Cheers to all!
