1M vs Z435iS

Was just thinking, IF these two cars do run the same motor and config/ecu, then shouldn't the Z4 be as fast or faster in a straight line than the 1M?If the Z4 35i is .1 second quicker than the 135i to 100km/h then wouldn't the 35iS be again .1 or so quicker than the 1M? Obviously it would be quicker on a track, just talking in a straight line. Would the LSD really help it that much, especially considering the 35iS has DCT?

I've always thought that the suspension was a very weak link on the z4 models, especially the z4M which was way too stiff. Would suspension have an effect on getting power down?

On a smoothly paved bitumen it shouldn't make a difference. A DCT equipped Z4iS should have the advantage over the 1M, but I am unsure of the weight differences.

They have identical engines so it'll come down to weight and transmission.

Different tools for different jobs. For touring I'd have the Z, for the track I'd have the M.

I have the Z4 35is and also have had a manual 135i previously + SSTT tune.

I can tell you that the DCT in the 35is is very quick and makes it a noticeably quicker car than my old 135i...the speed of changes, the short gears and the way it holds the boost in gear make acceleration incredible for a stock car. Then there is the beautiful job BMW have done with upping the boost on the 35is...

Suspension, body roll and general handling is much better than the 135i, but I doubt would be as good as the 1M. I am willing to bet BMW have seriously under quoted the 1M's power figures too

Have yet to try the launch control function....

I wonder if the 1M holds boost between gearchanges? PROcede V5 does it quite well for 6MT x35i's so it'll be interesting to see whether the 1M has the same function. That's good for at least a couple of tenths up to 100kph
