Hi All - For the upcoming races, I'm going to be trying these wheels from APEX. Will save me about 5 lbs. per wheel, so we'll see if Ralph can feel the difference. I'll get a picture of them on the car at SPOCOM this weekend.

What a lot of people don't realize is that the 'limp mode' is actually triggered off of the water temperature. Pretty soon here, we should get the chance to try a new increased size radiator from HP Autoworks. More from SPOCOM

Thanks! Actually, next year's Oktoberfest races are at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, if we make the trip.

End of August 2010, we were at the BMW CR Oktoberfest races at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisc. Very nice countryside to put a race track on, but on the down side, with a 4 mile course with hills in the middle, it's hard to see much of the track from any one spot.
Here are some pics I took as I show you around part of the track: Our car crossing the start finish line heading South towards turns 1 and 2 Turns 1 and 2 are medium speed right-handers. From Turn 2 (in the background at the far right), you have a high speed section thru the Sargento bridge, and on to turns 3 and 4 (at high speed) toward the hard braking zone for the left hand Turn 5 If you can slow the car sufficiently and make the turn 5 left hander, you head uphill to the Toyota bridge for a left hander that you can't see until you crest the hill From Turn 6 you make a downhill run thru 7 towards 8 You make the left hander at Turn 6 and it's down the hill thru 7 towards 8 Turn 8 is the left hander before the carousel and is usually a place to pass into the braking zone after getting a run on a car from Turn 6. The go-kart track is over in this area of the track. Once you make the left hander at 8, you go under the Johnsonville brigde and on to the Carousel and the back part of the track

I'll have to ask Ralph is he has put a bunch of them up anywhere. He recently had an issue where he had a bunch of them deleted.

We were at Laguna Seca during Monterey Jazz Festival weekend, so that was kind of fun. After getting back from the track, we could leave the hotel windows open to hear the concert from the fairgrounds
It was a little wet on Saturday morning

Well, for my taste far too much useless weight aboard. Why would you want the backseats in a racecar - especially when you have a rollcage. The passenger seat is also just useless weight during the race, so is the whole interiour design - you don't need that in a proper racer. A german team recently finished their 1 series coupe based hill climbing race car. I mean - I don't know the regulations you need to have an eye on, but for me this isn't a serious race car. It tries to be both - all day driver and race car at once but by trying that it fails doing both.
If you're interested you can have a look at that project. The texts are all in german, but the pictures actually give you a very good impression: 134 Judd |
