What happens when the speed limiter is reached?

Just curious, but seems like a number of you have actually reached the limit. Do the electronics simply prevent the car from going faster or does the engine sputter?

This probably sounds like a stupid question, but this is something I've always wondered, since I won't be doing this test in Southern Cal.

It's like hitting a rev limiter. But really...your car explodes and you WILL die.

And about that cute Japanese Rosa Kato girl, who is she? Did she have some plastic surgery (blepharoplasty) done on her eyes?

The car will just stop accelerating. It actually makes for a nice cruise control because you can just keep your foot on the floor while your car cruises along at 135 or 155 mph (non-sp and sp).

I don't know, she's half Italian (she's an actress/model) so it's probably natural.

261kmh in 6th or in 5th: the car won't go any faster. A mild
'nothing' prevents you from going faster.

Btw, the reason why I ask is because I used to bracket race and do SCCA Solo II Autocross. When either of my Supras hit the 7000 rpm, they would sputter (as opposed to letting you stay at 7000 rpm) as if something (either fuel or electronics) was cut out. Since the Bimmer is not redlining at 155 mph, I'd assume that it would simply not go any faster like most of you are saying here (i.e., not cough or sputter).

On the E46 and E36, fuel was cut to cylinders 2 and 6.
