Yokohama Advan Sport V103
Has anyone had any experience/purchased these tyres for your 1ers. Have only read great reviews so far, but looking for some honest perspective from forum members.
I am looking at replacing the original runcraps with Advan Sport V103. (another nail and 20K kms on original with still 30% left) 225/40 fronts and 255/35 rears. Any thoughts.. |

I have had the Yoko SDrive on the front of mine for about 12,000klms. They seam to have hardly worn, but are very noisy compared with the conti's I had before. On the rear I have the advan sport and they are wearing much the same as my conti's did (i.e fast) but grip well and are not noisy. No issues yet with either fronts or rears with sidewall bubbles etc so if they remain cheaper than the conti's I'll probably put a set of SDrives on the rear and see how they go (not so concerned about the noise anyway). Cheers, S |

So you are saying in comparison to the Conti's, they grip better and are quieter, but they wearing out faster? I am more concerned with grip, handling and better ride than the run craps. Looks like they could be the ones..Have sent off a email to Tirerack for a quote yesterday. |

The SDrives are noisy as s***t, but are wearing better than the conti's with grip 95% of the conti's. The Advan Sports are as quiet as the conti's, wearing similar to the conti's and grip similar to the conti's. |

Anything is better than run flats, my Advans are quiet, wear pretty well and overall i am happy with them. They make a marked improvement over the way the cars are released when new. I remember a while ago a tyre place was telling me that the Advans don't have the structural strength in the casing to cope with hugely upgraded torque and therefore i may struggle putting power down.

Yoko in Australia is shit.
Japan has the AD08. FIND THEM! Otherwise, Stuckey has the Dunlop star spec. Call them up. They ship. I will get them from the USA.

I got them on my old skyline before, 245/30/R17 All Round. They were very good street tyres.
Most stickiest street tyres on street I have driven so far except A048 (if you still call it street tyre), very directional, reasonable noise, very hard tyre wall which translate the road condition well to your steering wheel. Comparatively good control on wet road. Downside is, very unreasonable price in Australia, and long lead time after you order it. It costed me about $700 per tyre plus waiting two weeks for Yokohama shipping it from Perth to Sydney. The tyres also wear very quick, I only got less than 20000km out of them. V103 is an aged tyre back in 2003... If Yokohama, and for such price, I would rather look into ADVAN AD08 or AD07 (old stocks) if you can source them.

I put S drives on my E46 the other day. They look good and handle pretty well so far, I'll need to put a few more km on them to give better feedback. I'll probably stick with these after my RE-11's as they are more economical.
