Over the last year or so I had become more and more interested in the 1M. I have had my e92 M3 for 8 years now and always was interested in the 1M as its basically just a smaller version minus the S65.

I started to read and do my research on doing a conversion from a 135 to 1M. As the prices of the 1M are getting higher and higher. I thought to myself if I bought a real 1M I would have a hard time modifying the car. I have a bad case of mod everything. I grew up in my fathers business of auto repair/body. In fact my e92 M3 is salvage title and I was able to do a father son project with him in 2013 on that car. After figuring I could convert a 135 to 1M for a lot cheaper and also viewed it as a time to go back to my dads business and do another project I started to get all the parts in order. I was able to order most of the body panels new and brackets/hardware required for the cosmetic conversion. The hardest part was the rear quarters, I wanted OEM. I know a guy makes fiberglass rear flares but I wanted it done with OEM metal panel. So i started that search and got extremely lucky a member not far from my fathers business (2 hrs) had a set in storage for 3 years and decided to sell. So i jumped on that and then had all the OEM body panels I wanted. I then decided to add a carbon fiber roof as the car had a sunroof. I went with RKP 2x2 Carbon fiber roof.

As far as the suspension I was able to find a full rear subframe drop out from a e92 m3. I bought a single piece aluminum driveshaft to adapt from n54 6mt to m3 diff. Reason for this is the manual transmission on the 1M is not that same length as the n54 transmission which makes the OEM 1M driveshaft not an option. I also picked up all new parts for the front suspension.

As far what color to paint the car, I was between a red or blue. I'm not the biggest fan of most reds but wanted to keep it OEM BMW color. So after looking at some red and blues I decided to go old school and do a none metallic color with Hellrot Red. Just for reference my e92 M3 is painted Limerock Grey Metallic. I don't like wraps and also like to have special colors.

Part way into the project I also decided to add e92 m3 seats. I found out they are almost identical outside of foam and seat material. Once I got my seats i saw the wiring was a little different so I swapped the seat harness and it was all plug and play with no errors in the car.

With currently living in New Mexico and my fathers business is in PA I decided to drive the car back 2,000 miles over 2 days and got started on the project. From start to finish this took us 16 days. I did about 85% of the work myself and the remaining 15% from my father. He mainly helped with the rear quarter removal and install along with the paint. I handled mostly everything else. He helped as much as he could but he also had a business to keep running. I worked on average about 12-14 hour days on the car.

Thanks again for the parts! So glad i went the OEM route for the rear quarters, was more expensive but in my eyes the right way to do it.

This things looks awesome! Can you tell me more about your driveshaft modification? I also have the N54 6MT transmission and I was trying to figure out if the slack could be taken up in the center carrier without modifying a 1M factory driveshaft.

GOALS! Absoltely stunning and will be a true 1 of 1

Are those aftermarket 1m side mirror caps, factory caps or did you buy the whole 1M OEM assembly?

I went with a whole new setup from Seems Legit Garage, he makes adapter plates one for the transmission side and one for m3 diff side. The adapters convert it from BMW bolt pattern to a standard 4 bolt driveshaft. The driveshaft itself is a 1 piece aluminum shaft.

This photo was just a mock up to check everything, yes its missing a bolt, yes its not flat to diff. This was just at test fit to check length and bolt alignment.

They are oem 1m mirror assemblies. They didn't have the exact ones to match my options of the car (none in US or Germany with no ETA of restock) so I got as close as i could and swapped some electronics inside the mirror housing.

Thanks for the lead on the aftermarket driveshaft! Seems like a much simpler solution.
