Rear Subframe Bushing Tool Rental Sources
Called up HP Autosport today and they not renting their subframe bushing install tool at the moment. They're in the process of building a another unit and their machine shop needs the unit they have as reference. Unfortunately they have no estimated completion date.
Does anybody know where I can rent a bushing install tool or have one I can borrow? I've seen them for sale online for ~$300, but don't want to drop that much on a one time use tool. |

If you are using 2 piece replacements you can do this.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=802073 I actually did it this way and it only took me about 2-3 hrs in my garage. I bought all the pieces for like $50. I used a heat gun instead of a torch and they came out easy. |

If you are installing the m3 bushings you need the tool to install the bushings.
If you go two piece (whiteline or prothane) you don't need any special tools This method works http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=39 |

Unfortunately I've already got M3 bushing installed and need to correct the alignment of them. When the first install occurred (using the HPA tool) I installed one side and a buddy did the other. Left side bushings ended up 90deg off from the right side, oops. Under acceleration between 50 - 75 mph I get a bad vibration which I hypothesize is the rear subframe rotating slightly inducing a natural frequency in the driveline/subframe. I don't think the bushing stiffness is axis symmetric. After reading the bently manual they note that orientation is important and my current bushings are not correctly oriented. If your going to install subframe bushings make sure you get the orientation correct! Anyone know of other shops that rent the tool? |

Yeah, that is an option. Was kinda hoping to just get one off the shelf rather than spend time building my own.
Anyone have a tool who's local to the SF bay area? |
