My jack kit from BMW-Direct came with a breaker bar and all the other goodies including the torque bar. I'm carrying a full size 18" spare until my alloy space saver arrives.

Ok - for around $200 + 25 shipping and handling and change plus mounting you can get items to build your spare on-line or at your dealer. Discounted pricing at getBMWparts.com

Collision Catalog - 2001 - BMW - 330XI front suspension, wheels, wheel, spare 330i, 330xi $57.28 PN 36116750007
OEM Catalog TIRE 125/80D17 99M C $148.80 PN 36122150029

Tires are about a week on order. So for about $250-275 peace of mind and a new set up.

My tyre suppliers showed me some of the handiwork of those who had used plugs and in the process destroyed their non-RFT tyres. In effect, the holes are too big to enable a patch/plug to be used. Not for me. I decided to keep the weight down and use a BMW Mobility Kit. The sealant is latex-based and washes out, so a holed tyre is not written off by goo.

FYI....a 250PSI air compressor that plugs into your auxiliary 12V port is smaller than this hand pump and fits easily in the battery compartment. Costs $8.99

Given the choice always use internal patches over plugs but patches won't work at all close to the side walls because of flexing. The "hole" is only as big as YOU make it (unless the FOD makes it too big for even a plug). Once you get the tire goo into your tire pressure sensor and tire air valve they are history and need to be replaced. The goo/sealant makes a mess and is not easy to remove. If left in the tire it can solidify or freeze and cause tire balance problems. Ask your tyre supplier what they think of the sealant. But to each his own.

I would think (hope?) that the BMW Mobility Kit would not damage TPMS or the valve, since it's from BMW...

+1. Yup, when BMW assist came for me when I had a flat on the "other side" of Germany... he also said it is always better to use a spare tire(even a mini like I had in the trunk) then to use the Mobility Kit. It is a last resort.

I also believe in order to "put" the glue/sealant in the tire... you have to remove the valve stem "guts" with a tool. The service tech also said even with the sealant inside... the wheel WILL vibrate like crazy. So I installed my mini donut. No vibrations, but major handling issues and the rear end was always "wagging" going down the road. Not fun.

That is why I bought a full size spare. Never again. I don't care how much trunk space I lost. I feel safer with that full size spare back there!

Dack: It is a latex sealant, and the idea is to spread it around then get to a tyre repairer ASAP. That is my around town solution so I don't expect vibrations at 80 kph. For long trips, I will use a M Sport spare and on that point I can only agree with you. The cost of the alloy space saver plus freight to Australia was as ridiculous as the prices Michelin, Continental and others gouge us with here. That's why I chose a Mobility kit out of the US and a Jack system out of Germany-UK as shown.

Picked up am OEM jack and spare wheel in anticipation of my move to non-runflat tyres. The wheel is 17x7.5 and is brand spanking new shod with a new 225/45ZR17 Continental tyre. I scored them both from an E46 318i sedan at a wrecking yard for $120. Now if only I could find a retailer that has Michelin PSS's in stock!
