My 200 mile+ review and dyno video
Please see my 100 Mile Review for my first impressions about my 135 before continuing to read this review.
This review will cover my first 200+ miles in my 2008 BMW 135is and includes a dyno report as well. I have been able to spend a few more hours behind the wheel of the “One” and so far I am still impressed. Today was a big day for the car as it was it’s first public appearance at one of our local tuner shops dyno day. And YES it did get dynoed!! I gave quite a few rides and everyone loved the car. I pushed it harder today than I have yet and still can not believe it’s a stock car. It performs more like a nicely prepped weekend racer than a stock sports coupe. The brakes are truly amazing and I have experience with cars with good brakes (read my first review). It is like the hand of god reaches down and grabs hold of the car and says with a booming voice “you stop now, right here, right now”. The 135 is truly a driver’s car. Very easy to drive spiritedly and quite confidence inspiring. You WILL feel like a better driver after getting behind the wheel. The abilities of the car still amaze me. I took a buddy of mine (Toon) for a ride today. Toons background include a degree in mechanical engineering, he has worked for Roush & Chrysler in both NVH & Vehicle dynamics. He drives a 345 all wheel HP Subaru. He was very happy with the performance of the One and had nothing but praise for it. Ok, so on to what everyone wants to read about “The Dyno”. First a short blurb about the dyno used. It is a Mustang AWD-IMP in ground roller dyno at SpeedIndustry.biz. It uses an eddy current brake to simulate load and is touted in the tuner industry as the most acuract real word simulator. If you read up on them you will also find that they tend to read 10-20% lower then most other dynos (Dynapack, DynoDynamic, ect). My 135 put down 262.3 wheel HP @ 5500 RPM and 274.6 ft/lbs @ 3250 RPM. The torque curve (or lack there of a curve) amazed everyone. We made 3 pulls and each one was within 3 hp & 1 ft/lbs of each other. We did the pull in 4th gear and started at 50 mph & pulled through 120 mph. Here is a video of one of the pulls….Please feel free to leave a comment on YouTube. YouTube.com 135 Dyno video Keep an eye out for my next reveiw. Clayton |

Clayton... mucho thanks! Your car is a puller, and shows that these cars are grossly underrated. That torque curve looked like a table. Btw, loved the "Hi 1Addicts" plug.
What are you planning on doing that made you want to get a baseline, or were you just curious? |

I think BMW has rewritten the book on torque "curve"

Those are big numbers on a Mustang. I'm not sure if I've seen a stock 335i dyno that high on a Mustang.

From now on it should be referred to as the "torque plateau" :headbang:

The exhaust has a silencer valve which opens at 3000 RPM or there abouts, you can pull the vacuum line to it and plug it with a golf tee so the exhaust noise is louder from idle.

metal is probably best, all you have to do is seal off the hose, once you pull it off the noise increases you just don't want dirt getting sucked into the hose.

How can a square be a curve? That is just awesome......maybe I should have gone into debt 5K more. Nah...I am really happy with the 128. I have enough trouble not wanting to pass everything else on the road now.
AND FreeBMW could you get a 128i on that dyno?
