135, Major Engine Problems, NOT happy
Hello...
I have had my 135 for about 400 miles now and I have noticed some very bad things with the engine. I have added audio for you to listen to the first issue, engine start. -engine start: when starting engine, after a cold start especially, engine is very loud to the point it sounds like something is wrong with it. Please listen to the audio. Does it sound odd? It's this loud even after being driven for a while. It's about twice as loud after a cold start. Notice the clicking sound at the beginning? At the end, there is also a weird sound before the engine goes fully off. A beeping like sound. -engine while driving: when driving car, hitting gas pedal will sometimes cause engine to make a loud whirring/rattling sound for a few seconds and then stops. Throw in an alignment issue... -alignment: car drifts completely to the right. Steering wheel is completely straight and car drifts right. Not a little, but a lot. I have to fight car to keep in line. |

I'd recommend you upload the audio/video to Youtube as few people will probably download your file.

Are you sure it's alignment and not road issues: Driving on the right side of the road (USA) many roads are angled so that rain water washes into the gutters, ie: the road is like an upside down V (so that water drips right and left. but always on the right side or drivers side)

Check your rims, make sure they dont have scratches from delivery and that they are all consistent.
But apparently wheel alignment is part of the dealership PDI??

I got a 2012 1k miles and i think i got the same engine noise thing you were talking about. I brought it in to the dealer and they said they couldnt hear it. It only happens right after cold start for me. BTW i cant play the noise. it would be better to upload it.

I don't have a YouTube account. It can be downloaded here though: http://www.sendspace.com/file/8xluym
It's an MP3 file. Seems like 2012s are having some issues. Other posts on the forums have engine troubles listed a little too many times. |

RIMS all look good to me. I really believe there is something wrong with the engine. A stealth recall? I can see that.

just take it to the dealer - as for the sound clip, I think most of us would only download a file from a well-known member, no offense... I'll stream the clip, but I'm not downloading anything.

I actually took my car to the dealer and they said they couldnt hear it. They told me to leave the car there for 2 more nights so the engine could cool down *without giving me a loaner. <-- they are going to rape my car so we left.

Call and schedule an appointment a couple weeks ahead so you can get a loaner... or record a video to play to them.

check tire pressures...check tire size.. dont assume that the pressures were checked.. also a wrong size tire from the factory isnt totally unbelievable. wheel alignments are covered for the first 2000 miles as an adjustment so dont let them sell you one. as for the rattle??? as for the 'loud start up" >>> most BMWs do start somewhat louder than you may want or think... i didnt listen to your audio clip so im only going by experience.
