Fitment

Hi guys,

Im am planning to new rims on my car. I thought of Front: 18 x 8.5 ET40 and Rear: 18 x 9.5 ET 45. But I am afraid I will rub, not so much the ones in the front but the ones in the back. What do you guys think??

Also, if I do get these sizes will the 225/ 40 (front) and 255/35 (rear) tires work? Or I need to go bigger on the back.

I can avoid all this mess by buying 18 x 8.5 ET40 all around but the car looks way hotter with staggered wheels.

Thanks

yeah should work, the tire brand will also play into the equation... how rounded the edges are

should be able to, this is what I think my new wheels are so if you need to roll you'll know after driving. If they rub it won't be enough to do anything too bad to the car or tires, you'll just hear and feel (and maybe smell a little burning rubber). Other option might be to just run a tiny bit of camber on the rears to tuck um in.

Yep, tons of us run similar setups. On stock suspension you'll rub in the rear only a little, mainly with passengers or depending on tire choice. Lowered you'll have to really be careful with tire choice and you might even rub in the front depending on how low you go.

When comparing to others, don't worry so much if they have 18s or 19s, mainly look at the tire choices and how much lowered or cambered. My setup is detailed in my sig. I haven't rubbed in the rear with these tires but I did rub with my previous 245/35 Hankooks. I do occasionally rub or bottom out in the front, I haven't looked into it yet.

I'd probably get the size tires you mentioned.

I was thinking of keeping runflats. Probably the same Bridgestone Potenza RE 050A or some or some other runflats, Kumho, or yokohama.

Hmm, I'm not sure which runflats have rounded shoulders. Is your suspension lowered?
