Thought the 1M was faster than the Cayman R...but cool race nonetheless.

The Cayman in this drag race is with the pdk. So it's the dual clutch that gives it the edge. All else being equal the 1M > Cayman R. |

i was just saying that these are some HIGH end cars and they picked the 1M to be in it....not the M3, not the M5 or M6 (which would have done WAYYYY better in a drag race - the 1M is more for the track IMO).
think about the price range of the cars they had on there..... |

I feel honored Saw this a while back, and as previously stated, the fact that it was picked to be part of the bunch (win or lose) is quite the compliment, considering the competition.

Nice concept..just wondering why they went with the 1M as opposed to the M3. Consider this though, for so much less money, you could practically tune your 1M to compete with most of the cars used. Except for the other turbo'd cars, that cost so much more, how much more hp could you reasonably tap into or get out of the cars?

Bingo. I think the 1M was like the second lowest MSRP in that line-up. Not that you can get a 1M for MSRP but you get the idea. Definitely agree the new M5 would've done FAR better in this race, but the 1 series in particular just isn't built for straight-line acceleration. It's a cornering car... just like the Evora that finished behind the 1M. There's a pretty clear line in the sand drawn in this drag race between the supersports, straight-line drag cars and the track demons... and like most drag races the real track demons WILL tend to finish last. Note that I'm not going to claim the supersports aren't good around the track as well... but right there you're getting into more than twice the MSRP of the 1M. Still... fun video. Thanks for posting The only thing I did find surprising was how much the GT-R spanked much more expensive and exclusive supersports. |
