Slek Lip...Gone on Highway

So I just had my lip put on professionally by a very trusted body shop and they delivered the car to my people at Eurosport here in Norman OK. I drove down the highway at 110 and heard a fluttering sound thought it was my turbos but it turned out to be my lip was improperly installed and the bottom fell out. Come to find out the shop only used a few bolts to put it on. Anyways I have done lots of business with my shop so they immediately went to take care of this. Within an hour I had a check for a grand.

The shop said with my competition oil coolers and hpf intercoolers the contours on the bottom are slightly different making it difficult to fit a all the way across piece. It's not impossible but he recommended strut bars if I did the slek piece again.

Anyone have any recommendations. I have a agency power rear diffuser BMW performance spoiler and mirror covers and front grills

Could you post pics of your car? I was thinking about the AP diffuser but i've never seen full different angle shots on the car.

I had a Slek lip too, mine split in half on the autobahn. I heard a loud noise and something that sounded like it was scraping underneath my car, I took the next exit and sure enough the bottom section of the lip was gone. The top half was stuck to the bumper and definitely wasn't coming off.

i guess driving 100+mph doesnt really help the lip. that is the only reason mine fell apart.

Damn man that's too bad, sleks cost a grip of cash, I am looking for a front lip but don't want to spend major $ and loose it on the freeway

yeah it does suck but, my shop took care of me which was great. I really did like that lip though. I think the problem was my oil coolers and my HPF intercooler really changed the contour of the lower fairing of my front bumper causing the shop to have fitment issues. I went with the agency power splitters and I added carbon fiber mirror caps and front carbon fiber grill BMW performance. I should have my gloss black ones up for sale soon.

I have the HPF i/c as well and I didn't have the fitment issues you were experiencing. The lip fit the bumper quite nicely it just couldn't withstand triple digit driving speeds.

No I don't. Which oil coolers do you have? If that was the cause of it I may have to reconsider some stuff cause I plan on getting another Slek lip but I track my car a lot and oil coolers would be really beneficial.

I don't think this piece was developed well from a high speed driving standpoint. I think the bottom piece should never just fly off at any speed. The product should be tested to warrant the high price granted its a big piece of carbon fiber. I think their should be strut bars.

The only reason the bottom piece of the lip would come off is due to people rubbing/damaging it during daily driving which would then create an air pocket between the two pieces. The air pocket would expand during high down force situations and then the bottom piece might come off. Can't blame anyone but yourself if you rubbed the lip and it came off.....

Lip was new. I never hit anything. This was right after install. The bottom part was the first to go at triple digit speeds due to downforce and maybe diluted adhesive or a quality issue on my piece. I am unsure.
