1M negotiation - Officially started

The 1M negotiation has officially started today with my wife. She has rejected my initial goal of extra 300k of business. I have managed to negotiate it down from - "you have to pay off the business first" to extra 600k of business, but I cannot include any sales from the new business we are starting as she claimed it that's HER project!

Well, next step of negotiation - converting the 600k to GP$....

It is alwasy fun negotiating with your spouse. To be continued....

It's easier to seek forgiveness than it is to get permission.

(before getting Procede)

"I'm gonna spend like $700 on my car"
"NO."

(after getting it anyway)

"hey babe, check this out" *goes WOT*
"DID YOU SPEND THAT MONEY ON YOUR CAR? I TOLD YOU NOT TO."
"sorry, I'll take you out to dinner tomorrow?"
"...okay but I want lobster."

I envy you sparoz mate. There is NO negotiation between me and the missus.

You're so right about the 'forgiveness is easier than permission', it's also how I roll. She did try to break my bank on the dinner though...

Mate - who pays off their business loan?? Why convert a tax-deductible loan into a non deductible loan (car, house etc)?

IMHO, it's best to have an interest-only business loan where the interest is fully deductible. As long as the value of the business doesn't fall!

(not a professional opinion BTW - just my 2c)

I think I have a possible solution. I agree with the poster who says, forgiveness is easier to get than permission so here goes:
Figure out something (tangibly material) that she is more/equally passionate about than maintaining the integrity of your financial future. Buy the car, buy that thing, bring the car home when she isn't looking and put that thing in the car. Ensure to garnish the gift with some memento from your 'when we met and first fell in love' past. Go inside and calmly tell her that you've got something special for her outside. She'll freak out when she sees the car. Give her a moment - unless she's a storm-off artist in which case you will need to move quickly - then tell her that's not it and she should look inside. She should, hopefully, be distracted for long enough to go for a spin... oh yeah, and if she can drive a stick, which I hope is the case, let her take the first (from your home) spin in the car. If she beats you to death executing this, I cannot be held responsible, lol.

Only if it's that easy lol. Let me see what she really wants the most - another shop somewhere... may be I can use the car as the garnish... Having said that - I got away last time because I bought her a car as well... except I was told on Friday that she saw the SLK that has AMG written on it with "four turbos" (exhaust pipes) at the back - and she absolutely loves that car...

Agree 100%..

Also..you guys make laugh, in a good way in this post with your replies.

Even thou my wife is my business partner/co director of our two business's, She leaves all the financial decisions to me.. Dont get me wrong, we openly discuss all finance matters, but the final say is mine as she totally trusts/respects my final decission..

In the end, their is NO negotiation process over our purchases, cause whats mine is hers..AND she drives a mad STICK shift and totally enjoys driving the vert and will LOVE the ///1M when it arrives..

It doesn't make any business sense apart from the fact that it will reduce my stress levels! Buying my partner out at the moment - you could imagine that astronomical figure do look a bit scary. .

Oh dear lord not yet! But we've been at it for a while now. She already tries to exercise the 'whatever yours is mine' except it only works one way...
