I have been looking for a 6MT RWD BMW for a while now and recently I came across one I had to jump on. I bought it from a used car dealership in NJ on 3/14/17 and it was my first manual car. I've been riding a motorcycle for years and was always a car enthusiast so it was a concept I understood. I made it back to NY after 10 or so stalls and stupidly forgot the EZ pass i brought with me. The car had 42.8K miles and I opted for the N55 as opposed to the N54. My short term plans are to get fully comfortable with the car, do some exterior mods, try out the track/autocross/drag race, basically learn and become comfortable while pushing the limits. I will be modding slowly because I've just graduated this year (2017) and gotta "try" to prioritize. My daily driver is a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart (baby Evo) and my long term plan is to eventually make it a FBO widebody 135i.

The first thing I did was do a 5% sun strip on the windshield and blacked out my rear taillights with 35%. This is the result. Might've went too dark but it looks great during the day. At night it looks too dark.

Matte Black Grilles

Easiest way to do it is to follow the DIY thread and I found it easier using a hook or 90 degree tool to unclip grilles.

Welcome to the forum man, I'm sure you'll love the car. Subbed to both your insta's haha.

I think you went a little too blue with the angel eye's though, they don't match the upper LED strip now! It's a battle I deal with constantly as well lol.

Stock Trunk Lip Removal

I finally had some time to spend taking off the ugly/useless stock trunk lip and man that 3M removal job was annoying in the 90+ F heat. I used some dental floss to get under some of the lip and started using a microfiber cloth and slipped it underneath. Then i just went side to side the the cloth until the lip came off. Goo Gone didn't help much but did get most of it off, eventually after some frustration, I used lighter fluid and the adhesives came off much easier.

CF Trunk Lip Installation

After the tedious work of removing the old adhesives from the old lip, I washed my car and followed the DIYs on the forum for installing the lip. Before applying the lip, I did a test "line-up" with reference points on where to place it. I was alone so I sprayed the exposed adhesive 3M tape on the lip with a mix of 50/50 70% Isopropyl Alcohol and water so I can adjust the lip before it dried up and gets stuck at a position I didn't want it to be. It was actually so hot that I had to work quick otherwise the alcohol solution I made would dry too quick. I fortunately got it in 1 try and just as the DIY guide said, I used painters tape to hold it down for a few hours. Definitely looks much much better even with these small changes.

Smoked LED Side Markers

Swapped out the OEM Side Markers and bought Smoked LED Side Markers from eBay. Cheap and a quick install. To remove OEM markers, slide the marker towards the front end of the car and you'll be able to pull it out. Then just undo the clips and fasten the new markers on. Small difference, but I like
