Tire age limit?

I have on a set of Dunlop Wintersport 3D's that are in their 5th year of winter use. The tires have very low mileage; not even close to the wear bars. They are kept covered in the garage during non-winter months.

Does anyone know if there is an age limit to these tires? Can I keep using them year after year as long as they're safely above the wear bars? I would imagine as the years go by the rubber ages and would start to break down.

Thanks in advance.

Rule of thumb on most tires is 5 years. That's full time use. I think if you don't see any sign of dry rot, any small cracks in the side wall, then you'd be fine to use them since they are stored half the time.

IF they are properly stored in sealed bags and coated properly they can last for decades, but these were not. Depending on humidity, you're probably safe as long as there are no visible signs of rot or damage as they aren't that old. You're not gonna be driving aggressively on winter tires so that helps as well. But i wouldn't keep them more than 1 or 2 more seasons.
