Ride height: difference between US & Aus?

Guys it seems quite common for the guys in the US to change springs for some reason or another.
Most seem to change them after putting on conventional tyres as they say it is underdampend/undersprung without rft's.

I will be running different wheels/tyres when mine arrives and will consider different springs also.
My car wont be a track weapon so i think coilovers are overkill.

I am running a Eibach Prokit on my Golf with 19" wheels and stock shocks. The Golf is more compliant than the stock setup for daily city commuting and definately handles better in the twisty stuff when pushed around due to a varible rate spring. These springs only lower by 10mm.

I see the guys in the 'suspension & brakes forum' saying Eibach & H&R have spring kits that will help with the handling but they say these kits lower around 1" to dropped on its guts.

Have they got the same ride height over there as us?
I know they have the option to select the sport suspension where as we get it std on the 135, but are theirs the same ride height as ours with the sport package?

I am happy if its a little lower but 1" from std 135 height seems extreme.
Any thoughts?

The springs I've seen advertised seem to suggest their lowered height is with respect to the standard suspension. As our 135's have the sport suspension (lowered by 15mm), then a 1" drop should only be 10mm lower than our 135s. Sounds ideal to me for a road car. See Eibach springs for $480 USD delivered on Ebay at,

Thanks Tim yes 10mm sounds ideal for a road car.
Good price also. That link says they're $230USD, is $480 Aus delivered price?

I think it was 230 USD for the springs & 250USD for delivery so 480 all up. Must be heavy... but their Ebay history looked good. I think the height of these particular units was 1.2" lower though. Search to see what else they have for sale.
Tim.
