AAA’s top car and truck models for 2006 were judged on performance, design, and the “wow” factor. They also were checked for acceleration, braking, cargo capacity, comfort, driver’s environment, fuel economy, handling, ride and value.

Top Car and Truck Models

Under $15,000: Mazda3
$15,000 to $20,000: Honda Accord Sedan
$20,000 to $25,000: Dodge Charger
$25,000 to $30,000: Toyota Avalon
$30,000 to $35,000: BMW 3-Series

$35,000 to $40,000: Volvo S80
$40,000 to $50,000: Infinity M35/M45
$50,000 plus: Jaguar XJ8L
SUV Under $30,000: Ford Escape Hybrid
SUV Over $30,000: Mercedes-Benz M-Class
Minivan: Honda Odyssey
Truck: Honda Ridgeline
Cool Car: Chevrolet Corvette Z06
